I couldn't find a thread for this score (I'm sure there has been one before but it's probably lost in the FSM limbo zone). I really like the film. Not quite up there with SHAWSHANK but solid and tragic nonetheless. The score didn't really make that much of an impression on me when I first saw the film and even when I finally picked up a cheap copy on the internet (when I was probably in a 'need new Thomas Newman' mood), I played it once and filed it thinking meh. Over the past few weeks, I've been playing it more and more and lots of tracks are starting to really win me over. Foolishment is my first ahhhhh moment on the CD. Limp Noodle and Cigar Box are cool and Circus Mouse is crazy brilliant...only Thomas Newman can do shit like that. The Bad Death of Eduard Delacroix is immense!! Do a Horror score Thomas Newman!!! Other tracks I really dig are; Boy's Eye, Red Over Green, That's the Deal, Night Journey, Danger of Hell, Trapingus Parish, Boogeyman, Coffey on the Mile (possibly the standout cue) and the final 3 tracks. I still can't get a handle on the main theme. I love it when it plays, but it doesn't really stick in my mind afterwards. But anyway, this is proof that a score that made hardly any impression on you while watching the film and still didn't after you bought the CD can still have it's day in the sun and become a valued and important part of your collection.

Wonderful score. I haven't given it a spin in years and now, thanks to this thread, I'll be rectifying that right away.
