Glad someone read all that ;-)
I'm leaning towards mono. My lp setup is not the greatest....in fact it's rigged to a 2.1 setup, so it was hard to discern - the 'Creep' cues are always faded down at the end, but due to my rig, I can't comment that it burst into glorious stereo when the pure score cues came up. Also, the entire final animated & end title sequence are a single track. I'll try to relisten & detect tonight - I was so annoyed at the M & E bits, I guess I didn't notice mono v. stereo!

Thanks for the review. I have mine, but have yet to spin it. It is a beautiful package, but you do pay handsomely for it. Someone please do a CD of this and Tales from the Darkside - The Movie, and I'm all over them.

I stand by my earlier point that they may not have licensed this properly and why not one of our soundtrack label friends has put it on CD. The owner of the New World catalog wants to sell it, not exploit it via licenses.

I agree with that and I think this 'release' is a bootleg. Maybe these Waxwork people should post all the details as to how they cleared the rights and who the name of the person was that arranged it. No one has been able to release this title and it's been very much in demand now for decades. It makes no sense to only release it on vinyl either.

The copyright notice has some legit sources so that looks good. Maybe this is a legit release, fingers crossed. I always thought all their stuff was.

Waxwork is 100% legit, and they've made some nice in-roads to get these releases out - Morricone's THE THING, for example, which sold out. Putting this out on vinyl also makes it more laborious for the idiots who pirate score releases, thus robbing the labels of further potential sales & income.

Jinny, You should be very careful and not go accusing a label of releasing a "bootleg".
As it can cause serious damage to the labels reputation.
Since you just registered at this forum August 17:th 2017, it seems like trolling to me.

Either buy a record player or stop whining. I'm not complaining when some of the stuff that comes out on CD isn't being issued on vinyl.

I'm still very happy about this release regardless of the format. The sound is fantastic over the 2 records. Would I have preferred no dialogue?... sure, but I refuse to look that gift horse in the mouth. I have the capabilities to transfer this over to digital files so that is what I did. In the end, for me if this is how I can enjoy a soundtrack I've been waiting for since I left the theater with my best friend and dad then so be it.

Still waiting for mine in the UK from Transmission Records. They said they were shipping on the 15th. That doesn't appear to be true.

Then I've got to find some chump to lend me their record player for an hour.

EDIT: Just checked their site and they've now amended it to 15th September release date. Fuck's sake.

Mine got dispatched today via trackable 2nd class, although there's no number provided and I used the guest checkout.

I guess I'll just have to wait it out.

Interesting. I spotted the Creepshow 2 score appear on Bandcamp today. I have no idea if it has any sort of official license or not?

As for Waxwork offering CDs and digital, that would be amazing. Though they’ve been promising downloads for at least a year now, they do keep saying they’re coming. Hopefully soon!

Vinyl crackling sound, full of hiss and clicks, why?
No master tapes = No buy frown

AND dialogue/sound effects.

We're better off ripping this from the Blu-ray Disc and saving ourselves some cash.

That Bandcamp link is probably a bootleg if it's full of vinyl clicks.

The CD will be from master tapes, 'cos that's what the vinyl was mastered from. Dialogue and effects are only on the animated interlude segments, the rest of the album is just the music.
