I wondered if there is anyone out there, that might recall some of the early scores that Michel Colombier wrote for Universal. At the time, he was a new name to me, but amongst other things, two stand out head and shoulders above the rest. One was THE OTHER MAN a TV Movie starring Joan Hackett and Roy Thinnes. Score apart, this was a very good entry in Universal's continuing forays in TV Movies. The Scores was quite amazing, almost Chamber like in places. A visit to a Mission was highlighted by the use of a organ, with small ensemble playing along with vibrant percussion. Secondly even more remote HAROLD ROBBIN'S THE SURVIVORS a forerunner if you like of DYNASTY etc, starring George Hamilton and Lana Turner. Great score and brilliant, brilliant theme. This may seem daft, but I know I am with friends, hardly a day goes past without I hum that theme to myself and how many years ago since I heard it?? Forty Years !!! I wonder if the the tapes are , as they say " in pristine condition " lying in Universals vault? Maybe I am the only one wold would give a lot to hear them, though I suspect not!! Any one listening ?
