Well, there's still time to make this a reality though. Murphy is still alive, JJ is making the Trek films now, and what do you know -- a fourth JJReboot-rams film has been announced. Might as well make it about whales and put Murphy in it. Maybe he'll meet a transvestite while on old Earth. ;-)
I just don't understand why the blurb about TVH is even "news." Nothing there is new info. The Eddie Murphy involvement has been public knowledge for decades. Why was that dredged up now? I actually thought this would be about the next Trek film.
The next movie will be the fourteenth, not the fourth.
Ask dragon53 why this is news. (S)he's the one who treated it as such.

dragon53 doesn't make the news (s)he shares the news. A lot of us appreciate all the work (s)he puts into these threads too.

Yes. And I hadn't heard the Eddie Murphy thing before --- and it makes me appreciate the final film all the more. Talk about dodging a cinematic bullet!!
I don't hate Star Trek 4 at all, but with that being said, I've always felt Star Trek 3 was very under-rated. All the character stuff 4 keeps getting credited for having is present in 3 and done, dare I say it, a bit better.
I posted the Eddie Murphy article because it was a recent interview with the original writer of STAR TREK IV. I'd heard the Murphy/ST IV story before, but not everyone has. For the movie/tv news, I post anything I see that might be interesting to you guys.

Yeah, I know that, but it's the 4th film in the Bad Robot continuity - the first of which was called, simply, "Star Trek." I've seen more than one media outlet restart the numbering from there. Not accurate, but enough to make an incorrect knee-jerk conclusion. There was no reason to think anything about the 1986 film could possibly be news (and it wasn't).

Considering I posted the question on its own in this very thread, I kinda did...

Scotty: "Up your shaft".
Totally agree. It's my favorite of the film series.
