If, after all these years of not bothering, Varese now announces a CD from conveniently discovered tapes, after Intrada released their 'best endeavour' version, well, I won't be happy. Nothing against Intrada, I appreciate their version and I'm actually fine with the sound quality. And I certainly am thankful a label released what was a grail of mine for years. But Varese wouldn't dare, would they? Especially after Intrada previously approached them for tapes?

If Varese issues it from the master tapes I'll gladly purchase a copy and donate the Intrada to the people who think a needle rubbing through plastic is way groovy!

I for one hope that if there is a better source someone releases it, I don't care who. And I'll still treasure my Intrada release for being the first ever of a score that is still remarkable and should be available.

The score is too good not to be available in the highest possible quality sound.

I don't see the problem here with any other label doing it. The problem I see is that the tapes weren't to be found just not that long ago when Intrada asked for them, now they're magically here; if that was intentional, that's a problem, if not, then there's no issue at all.

All I'm seeing is speculation, no evidence either way of intent. Why not assume best intentions all around until we actually know otherwise? (And by know I mean hear it from someone actually involved.)

Sometimes things are just lost until suddenly they're found. Ok by me.

If there's anyone who still wants a copy of this, Chris's Soundtrack Corner has copies available at the very reasonable price of 32.95 euros. (It seems to be sold out everywhere else.)

Is that true about tapes being found? Is there a link to someplace where I could see the source of this info?

I'm not a whiz at Facebook, but I searched their page and only found an offer for a green vinyl LP (new pressing or old, isn't even clear).

Does Varese Sarabande locate the original recording of SR?

It looks like we have a couple of posters claiming that, and we're waiting for them to explain.
