ALIEN: COVENANT---20th Century Fox celebrated Ridley Scott's 79th birthday with a photo showing Scott on the COVENANT film set which hints the Space Jockey from the original movie is in COVENANT. The photo caption is, "And a new kind of horror was born. Happy Birthday, Ridley Scott."

DOCTOR WHO---BBC released the poster and synopsis for the Christmas Special:

"This Christmas sees the Doctor join forces with a masked Superhero for an epic New York adventure. With brain-swapping aliens poised to attack, the Doctor and Nardole link up with an investigative reporter and a mysterious figure known only as The Ghost. Can the Doctor save Manhattan? And what will be revealed when we see behind the mask?"

THE WALKING DEAD---showrunner Scott Gimple commented on the series possibly exploring Negan's backstory, “I do believe yes, it’s in the future. You know, I’m always careful about this, things can absolutely change. There’s a loose plan in place I have. I take that ‘Here’s Negan’ story as the backstory. There’s some aspects of it that will probably be cool. It’s some fairly far-flung stuff… in the future, you will see some stuff from that. Might need to get Damon Lindelof to do it. It might be rather Lost-ian, but we’re talking a good while away.”

WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT?---Robert Zemeckis is doubtful about a sequel to his 1988 movie because Walt Disney Pictures, which owns the rights, prefers more family-oriented movies. The sequel would follow Roger and Jessica Rabbit into the 1950s where they encounter the ghost of Eddie Valiant with a digitally-created Bob Hoskins.

CAPTIVE STATE---John Goodman will star in this sci fi movie from director/writer Rupert Wyatt (RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES). No plot details were released.

MASTERS OF SEX---Showtime cancelled the series.

THE HUMANITY BUREAU---Nicolas Cage stars in this sci fi movie set in 2030 where the Humanity Bureau exiles unproductive people into the New Eden colony. Cage plays a case worker who investigates an appeal from a single mother and her son who are being sent to New Eden.

MANIFESTO---Discovery Channel series underway about FBI profiler Jim Fitzgerald's efforts to help apprehend Ted Kacynski who was known as The Unabomber. Paul Bettany (CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR) will play Kacynski.

DETECTIVE PIKACHU---live-action movie underway based on the Pokemon character. Rob Letterman (GOOSEBUMPS) is the director.

RELLIK---Cinemax six-part miniseries underway about a serial killer that unfolds backwards.

HIGH WIRE---Fox series about a 26 year-old trapeze artist and her eccentric family.

Belko looks like it could be worth a watch or complete rubbish. I trust Gunn to write an entertaining film if not a great one. The set-up is familiar, it'll all depend on the characters and the pay-off for how successful the story is for me. Some decent actors in there, though.

I am a huge fan of the original film, and for a long time, I would have welcomed a sequel to this film. If the above that I bolded is the best that they came up with, I am glad Disney shelved this project.

I'm not opposed to a ROGER RABBIT sequel, but it would need to be done properly.

I was glad when Zemeckis recently said there would be no remake of BACK TO THE FUTURE; here's a case where I want to preserve the cultural heritage of what exists. It's not like the originals are lacking in any way. I would not be opposed to a sequel here either, but not sure how that would play out with Fox's Parkinsons issues and Lloyd's advanced age.

Pictured in the seat is of course Harry Gregson-Williams.
