FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2

ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK---20th Century Fox remake/prequel is underway of the classic 1981 John Carpenter movie which starred Kurt Russell.
In the remake/prequel, Col. Robert "Snake" Plissken's mission is to bring in the evil Thomas Newton, a biotech heir who possesses a fail-safe device named "Fat Boy", in 11 hours while Superstorm Ellery heads toward New York.
Also, Robert Hauk, played by Lee Van Cleef in the original movie, will be Roberta Hauk, the CIA Deputy Executive Director, in the remake/prequel
Other changes include New York is not a maximum security prison, but is a towering city of glass controlled by an AI named April and its staff of Seerers. The script was written by Neil Cross (LUTHER). The remake/prequel will be the first of a planned trilogy.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2---James Gunn posted a photo of Brahl, a new alien in the sequel.

THE WALKING DEAD---the ratings continue to decline. Last week's episode drew only 10.9 million viewers which is the lowest audience in four years.

ALIEN---Sigourney Weaver commented on the status of the Neill Blomkamp sequel which was delayed in favor of ALIEN: COVENANT, "I hope that Neill Blomkamp and I will eventually get back to it. He’s written such a wonderful script. I look forward to finishing Ripley’s story."
Weaver also talked about her role in THE DEFENDERS, the Netflix/Marvel tv series, “I can’t say much, because they might kill me. I think everyone I work for might kill me if I tell you anything. But I have the most delicious character. She’s really smart, and she’s very in charge.”

MAYANS MC---FX ordered a pilot for the SONS OF ANARCHY spinoff series. The pilot's synopsis is:

"Mayans MC is set in a post Jax Teller world, where EZ Reyes, a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the Cali/Mexi border, struggles with his desire for vengeance against the cartel, and his need for respect from the women he loves."

MANIFESTO---Sam Worthington will play FBI profiler Jim Fitzgerald in the Discovery Channel eight-part miniseries about the pursuit of terrorist Ted Kaczynski who was known as The Unabomber. Keisha Castle-Hughes (WHALE RIDER) in negotiations to play an FBI agent who teams up with Fitzgerald.

VAMPIRE CHRONICLES---Anne Rice commented on the possible stars of the upcoming tv series. For Louis, Rice said, “Beauty. Great beauty. It’s Louis’ beauty that attracted Lestat to him, and I would hope it would be a beautiful actor like Matt Bomer. Somebody with that incredible beauty.” She said about Marius, “I would absolutely love it if Matthew MacFadyen, the British actor, ever wanted to be part of this and wanted to play Marius. Marius is one of the pillars of the Chronicles – 2,000 years old – and I am an absolute, stoned fan of Matthew MacFadyen in Ripper Street and every other show that he’s ever done.”

21 JUMP STREET---a Sony Pictures all-female buddy cop spinoff movie of the 2012 movie is underway. Rodney Rothman (GRUDGE MATCH) is the writer/director.

This made me laugh. Luther is decent, so maybe the script has a chance. Be interesting to see who plays Snake.

As for Alien, I can't believe Neil Blompkamp wrote a great script.

I think they should just let Alien die. I was hoping Prometheus would move away from the Alien universe and do it's own thing.

A return to good taste among some in our culture, or a sign there are scarier things going on in America right now than walking dead, such as walking deadheads?

It died right after ALIENS came out, but someone forgot to tell the suits at Fox. And Prometheus was a sham in many respects, but don't tell that to Joan Hue and others.

This is practically gibberish.

Sadly neither I'm sure. Besides 10.9 is nothing to sneeze at.

But its shite when you previously had been way up there. Good for america. This series is toying with the audience and taking them for granted and eeking out every possible delay of the main story. People arent stupid.

Is it still good? Yes, of course. But Is it irritating ? Now it is.

Their loss.

The show remains awesome and great entertainment with an excellent cast. People have always been too harsh on the show, always expecting it to be exactly what they want to see and if it's any less than they turn their back on it. Never before have I seen so much hatred towards a show from its "fans".

Season 3 was my least favorite, but otherwise I love it.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan could read the phone book as Negan for the entire 42 minutes and I'd be rapt with attention, he's one hell of a performer and has given the show a huge shot of vitality and unpredictability.

I just started watching the show two months ago, from the very beginning, never having seen it before. I've flown through it and have had such a good time! It's been a rollercoaster of fun and I'm so happy that I've been able to just enjoy it, go along for the ride and not get hung up on what I expect it to be, or what I think it should be, or why it shouldn't be this or that, or why it should hurry up and do this or that it doesn't make sense that blah blah blah...it's a walker apocalypse drama, I'm just having fun with it. smile

That's just me though, different strokes for whoever and what not.

I watched last Sunday's new episode and once again scratched my head in puzzlement that the show has the following it does. These people can't find anything better to watch?

“…but don’t tell Joan Hue…”

Okay Rory, I bow to your superior tastes. As you often let us know with your sweeping generalities that you think should encompass all of us, you are the FSM ARBITER (the final authoritive judge of all that is perfect and correct) of accurate opinions. Those of us who have differing tastes and opinions are obviously tasteless, lack creative insight, possess diminished IQ’s and are just plain stupid. Let’s eliminate respect for varying opinions and different strokes once and for all!

(Hey Deputy, I'm still watching that series too.)

Great post above, Joan...

Glad you, too are enjoying TWD -- and I'll take this opportunity to say that Prometheus was wonderful. Loved it.

Your culture is my culture. In the battle of opinions, you need to know your weapons. But just basically telling me I'm mean isn't a defense. Fight! But before you do that, ask, "Is this really worth fighting over." I watch plenty of stuff I hear others say is crap, but do I get offended over it? Ask Thor when he said he didn't care much for THE SAND PEBBLES what my reaction was.

While you may not have taken on Thor for not really liking Sand Pebbles, you do post your incredulity, "puzzlement," and offense that others enjoy movies or TV shows that you don't care for, and you do it quite often.

Somewhat less forthright than when anyone disagreed with minus dicky though!! Ha ha. wink
Hey deputyR- glad you still enjoying Walking dead. Like i said, still good but the whole episode diversions are unnecessary and just drag on. They set the stage in episode one... then shut the curtains.

They're going to have to cast one hell of an actor for me to not see Kurt every time nuSnake is onscreen. This could be The Mechanic all over again (with respect to Jason Statham, who I do think is underrated).

I don't like the prequel aspect, though. Bringing in a billionaire geek who's lurking somewhere in a "towering city of glass"? I suspect the edges of this production will be too cleanly defined.

The above quote is where I realize that you and I speak different languages, and I part ways because I'm afraid I don't really know how to relate to you. Best of luck.

Bill, I share some of your frustration with The Walking Dead. I want to get back to Rick and his group, but I think these other episodes may all dovetail together in the end. The Salvation group appears to be huge. Therefore, Rick and his group really can't win.

The last episode dealt with all women. Shall I call it the Amazon group? smile Now we have four groups that have all been affected by Negan. Is it possible that the four, IF they band together, can defeat him? I keep thinking that might be the direction of the series, but I could be wrong.

I'm still hooked and want to see it through.

Yeah clearly the strands dovetailing is the plan. - i just object to every bloody strand getting a whole tedious episode. Mix it up and run several strands concurrently woulda been the optimum idea.
And hey - as for Negan's crew, Poisoning would be my answer. Or using a plan to overrun them with walkers.
Or as with all mobs - cut off the head!
Dont forget Cersei wiped out a whole city using exploding green slime in GOT.
