Case by case. Depends on how much time Lukas or I have at a given moment to deal with something. If you're referring to Howard's thread, locking it ensures that two members didn't turn it into a flame war, and Howard being the smart person he is started a new thread that wasn't contaminated by bile. So I think Howard wins.

Honestly I don't even remember now who it was or what brought about the closing of the thread that set me off -- one of the advantages of growing old, for all concerned-- and I'm not inclined to go back and try to find it again. My comment was more of a general thought, the point being that one or two out-of-bounds comments do not necessarily warrant the closure of an overall-worthwhile thread (IMO, of course), though a prolonged series of back and forth reactions would obviously be the death knell.

You are the sheriff in this town (a necessary job but one I would never want) so I respect your decisions and have agreed with most all of them. The one in question seemed to me a mite premature as a plug-puller, but obviously it's a judgment call. Rock on.
Finally this forum it has lots of news, it also runs a pay per view scheme, a lot cheaper than sky or what ever network your on. I pay ten pounds per month a bargain, & it don't matter who's fighting... they run global boxing.
