Adding to the problem of this project is that any sound recordings made from 1959 and back will go into the Public Domain in a vast part of the world as of Jan 1,2009 (Excluding the USA and it's Territories).
That means the moment it comes out, ANYONE can release their own far less costly version using that CD as their master and there isn't anything that can be done about.
As we all know, some of our labels (Varese Club, Intrada etc) limit classic releases to just 1000 or 1500 units and the limited numbers usually sell out well before anyone could copy and release them overseas. If Varese Club's sold out CD of, say, Korngold's Magic Fire was now copied and released next week in Europe, that wouldn't make Varese's original release any less profitable.
Surely 1000 or 1500 copies of Steiner's King Richard and the Crusaders would sell out fast, and what happens after that isn't really of much consequence to the label originally issuing it.
Of course, if we're talking of releases in unlimited numbers, or quantities like 5,000, that's a different story.
