2. Dry Your Tears, Afrika from Amistad
3. The BFG from The BFG
4. With Malice Toward None from Lincoln
5. The Duel from The Adventures of Tintin
6. A New Beginning from Minority Report
7. Escapades Movement 1: Closing In from Catch Me If You Can
8. Escapades Movement 2: Reflections from Catch Me If You Can
9. Escapades Movement 3: Joy Ride from Catch Me If You Can
10. Marion's Theme from Raiders of the Lost Ark
11. Hymn to the Fallen from Saving Private Ryan
12. Dartmoor, 1912 from War Horse
13. Viktor's Tale from The Terminal
14. Prayer for Peace from Munich
15. Immigration and Building from The Unfinished Journey
16. With Malice Toward None from Lincoln

It's coming March 3rd, 2017 from Sony Classical!

Here is a link to a 4CD set that bundles this CD with the original 2 Volumes and something called "Steven Spielberg & John Williams: The Adventure Continues" on a 4th disc - perhaps a DVD?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MRNZ615

I assume this will be released on its own - without forcing us to rebuy the original 2 volumes - as well, but you never know with Sony Classical...

I was listening to Volume 1 yesterday. (I had no idea there was a volume 2!)

Volume 1 came out in 1991 and is called "The Spielberg/Williams Collaboration: John Williams Conducts His Classic Scores For the Films of Steven Spielberg" and features music from their first 10 feature films

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00000271M

Volume 2 came out in 1995 and is called "Williams on Williams: The Classic Spielberg Scores" and features music from collaborations 2-6, 8, 11-13.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00138KKYO/

The 5 piece Hook suite on that release is essential!

Anyways, it is those 2 releases that Sony is including on Discs 1 and 2 of this 4 disc set.

That's a nice track listing, though I may have chosen something from A.I. instead of the Immigration and Building track. By my reckoning, the only theatrical Spielberg/Williams films not represented on any of the three albums now are The Lost World, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, and War of the Worlds. War of the Worlds didn't really have any concert tracks that could be used on a compilation album like this, so that's understandable. I would have liked to get the theme from The Lost World, however. That's ok though, I'll wait for Volume 4!

Shame John couldn't fly out to Tanglewood and record it with the Pops.

It's great to see "Marion's Theme" included! Now the one great unrecorded concert version of a Williams love theme remains "Han Solo and the Princess". I think there are only recordings by Charles Gerhardt with the National Philharmonic and the City of Prague Philharmonic.

So I thought I'd go through Spielberg and Williams' film collaborations (so, skipping over Amazing Stories) and list which pieces were elected to be recorded on these 3 volumes (and which film shave been completely ignored so far)

The Sugarland Express (1974)
--"Theme" on Vol 1
Jaws (1975)
--"Title Theme" on Vol 1
--"Out To Sea / The Shark Cage Fugue" on Vol 1
--"The Barrel Chase" on Vol 2
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind (1977)
--"Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" on Vol 1
--"The Dialogue" on Vol 2
1941 (1979)
--"March" on Vol 1
--"The Battle of Hollywood" on Vol 2
Raiders Of The Lost Ark (1981)
--"Raiders of the Lost Ark" on Vol 1
--"The Basket Chase" on Vol 2
--"Marion's Theme" on Vol 3
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
--"Adventures on Earth" on Vol 1
--"Over The Moon" on Vol 1
--"Flying" on Vol 2
Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom (1984)
--"Parade of the Slave Children" on Vol 1
Empire Of The Sun (1987)
--"Cadillac of the Skies" on Vol 1
--"Exsultate Justi" on Vol 1
--"Jim's New Life" on Vol 2
Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade (1989)
--"Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra" on Vol 1
Always (1989)
--"Theme" on Vol 1
Hook (1991)
--"Flight To Neverland" on Vol 2
--"Smee's Plan" on Vol 2
--"The Lost Boys Ballet" on Vol 2
--"The Face of Pan" on Vol 2
--"The Banquet Scene" on Vol 2
Jurassic Park (1993)
--"Theme" on Vol 2
--"My Friend, The Brachiosaurus" on Vol 2
Schindler's List (1993)
--"Remembrances" on Vol 2
--"Theme" on Vol 2
The Lost World (1997)
Amistad (1997)
--"Dry Your Tears, Afrika" on Vol 3
Saving Private Ryan (1998)
--"Hymn to the Fallen" on Vol 3
An Unfinished Journey (1999)
--"Immigration and Building" on Vol 3
A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)
Minority Report (2002)
--"A New Beginning" on Vol 3
Catch Me If You Can (2002)
--"Escapades Movement 1: Closing In" on Vol 3
--"Escapades Movement 2: Reflections" on Vol 3
--"Escapades Movement 3: Joy Ride" on Vol 3
The Terminal (2004)
--"Viktor's Tale" on Vol 3
War Of The Worlds (2005)
Munich (2005)
--"Prayer for Peace" on Vol 3
Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (2008)
--"Adventures of Mutt" on Vol 3
A Timeless Call (2008)
The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn (2011)
--"The Duel" on Vol 3
War Horse (2011)
--"Dartmoor, 1912" on Vol 3
Lincoln (2012)
--"With Malice Toward None" on Vol 3
--"With Malice Toward None" on Vol 3
The BFG (2016)
--"The BFG" on Vol 3

So indeed "The Lost World", "A.I. Artificial Intelligence" and "War of the Worlds" are the ones they haven't revisited yet frown

Empire Of The Sun (1987)
--"Cadillac of the Skies" on Vol 1
--"Exsultate Justi" on Vol 2

Correction^: "Exsultate Justi" was on volume 1, and you forgot "Jim's New Life" which appeared on volume 2.

Excited for volume 3 - Volume 1 came out just as I was getting into Williams. I think it was my fourth or fifth Williams purchase, and it helped me realize how great he was and set my on a collector's path.

I was also hoping for something from AI (I've long dreamt of an arrangement of Monica's Theme for cello) as well as his concert-version of The Lost World Theme which has a much snazzier opening and ending. The expanded "Civil Rights & The Women's Movement" is another, but I'm curious to hear if "Immigration" has been reworked. And I'm really looking forward to the Catch Me If You Can suite, especially "Joy Ride".

Hate to complain (as I'm thrilled that Marion's Theme is on there), but how on Earth could they leave A.I. off?!?!?

I'm also slightly miffed that we'll probably have to re-buy the first two discs to get the new third one, but if that fourth disc is a documentary and contains some of Spielberg's home movie footage of scoring sessions I can easily forgive that!

I wish they could have included something from A TIMELESS CALL, which is totally unreleased. But oh well. Also missing A.I. (one of the best scores of the 2000s by ANYONE), THE LOST WORLD and WAR OF THE WORLDS.

But hey -- it looks like a great set, even for those of us who already own the first two volumes.

Glad to see Marion's Theme is there but I wish he had recorded The Lost World and selections from War of the Worlds. The exclusion of AI is also quite puzzling. Maybe Disc 4 is more music or it could be just plain Documentary. Pretty exciting news nonetheless!

And the LSO conducted by Roy Budd.

War of the Worlds didn't really have any concert tracks that could be used on a compilation album like this, so that's understandable.

Actually, an 8-minute plus concert suite of War of the Worlds has been recorded a few times.

So wonderful that they are following through on this series so many years later. I'm thrilled with the inclusion of Marion's Theme.

I wonder if there will be choral work on Hymn to the Fallen? Strange that A.I., Lost World and War of the Worlds have been omitted.
