Richard W - Yes, that's the Cinefantastique article I was remembering from decades ago! It's in ma mammy's attic. I'm getting it shipped over, along with the other ones I've had in storage back hame in the Auld Country.

Joe S - At the risk of saying "I remember that" too much, I actuallly do remember that "Millenium Magic Box" which Gil was so proud of - with the suite from the film score included. When I say "I remember" it, what I mean is that I remember reading about it. In fact, I think I might know a man who owns it...

I saw photos taken at the West Coast gig, on Facebook of course. Denise Mellé was there, but I've no idea what her anecdotes were. These things should be recorded, even if it's by mobile phone, and kept for posterity.

Big Noo York screening tomorrow, with guest panelists including JP Phillips, who shall no doubt wax lyrical about his friendship with the late composer and his widow, and their recollections of the writing and recording of the score. I wish I could be there.

Would you believe I haven't finished reading the Little Shoppe of Horrors issue yet? It's wonderful, but it's SO packed with content, and I'm SUCH a slow reader (I read as if I were listening to people speak, with accents, pauses and laughter etc) that I might not finish it for a few more weeks.

CREATURE FEATURES EVENT - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QZ_BXIMuLk

I found the above on browsing da Toob. It's the Q and A session organized by Creature Features at Burbank recently, hosted by Sam Irvin. Unfortunately it's audio only, and the film clips introduced seem to have been edited out (?), but if you stick with it you'll hear Denise Mellé, albeit briefly. Sam Irvin does love the score, and makes a plea to record labels which goes something like this - "Please get this out - Denise Mellé has the tapes!"

And here's the full film. Watch it before it's pulled again! Only 3 hours and 5 minutes of your time - the rest is a ballsed up partial repetition.

FRANKENSTEIN: THE TRUE STORY

Haven't finished reading the publication yet. Then I have the other ones to read, work to go to, and a family to feed.

Bring the missus, I'm bringing mine smile

Golly, I'd forgotten about that, Kev! Unfortunately I'll be in Liverpool for The Cramps concert that weekend. Liverpool is actually 23 km nearer my house here than Málaga is!

I'm watching this now and finding it alternately just-okay, and touching at times.

But it is fun watching James Mason. I'd forgotten what an old smoothee he was, as an actor in this period.

Great film. Great cast, including Tom Baker in a small but opening titles featured role.

It feels like this movie had three endings. 1) End of Part 1, 2) After The Creature invades the party with Prima, and 3) the end of Part 2.

And my goodness but everything after ending #2 feels tacked on, shoe-horned in to set up the queer setting for the end. And during all of it, the actors are having to speak exposition one after another.

To be fair, the movie ends in the same location as the book, the Arctic, so not so strange. It's about as close as the film comes to the novel.

Plus, I've been haunted by Polidori's demise for 45 years, that's just good b-movie fun!

Is it possible for me to make my own personal Jane Seymour? (Even if she plays Beethoven sonatas badly?)

I deliberately watched this movie before reading the book.

I removed your spoiler, Mark.

And yes, it probably will be soon.

Oh, I guess it is a kind-of spoiler. Now edited.
