Okay...has anyone seen Season 3 of AMC's The Killing?
Peter Sarsgaard has always been a good actor in my opinion, and he's been a worthy addition to the show when he came aboard on Season 3. Last night, however, I watched the episode where Sarsgaard's character Ray Seward is executed by hanging and IT IS LITERALLY SOME OF THE BEST ACTING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE -- taking into account every film and television show I have ever seen.
It was nothing short of perfect. As I said in another thread, I had no clue that Sarsgaard had this kind of talent within him. This is truly an example of taking acting and elevating it to it's purest, highest level of art and communicating emotional truth, exposing one's soul and allowing for uninhibited vulnerability. It's beyond my comprehension how someone can perform as such.
It was his (I think) final episode on the show. Did anyone else see it?
I always thought he should have won an Emmy for his portrayal in season 3. I did get to see the first 3 seasons. He was phenomenal. I also really liked Mireille Enos as the detective. I've seen him in other movies where I've thought he was a good actor; he just doesn't usually get leading man roles.
If the above opens for you, I don't think he was even nominated for an Emmy. The Critics' Choice Television awards nominated him for this role. He earned nominations for "Shattered Glass" which I have not seen and several for "An Education" which I have seen. He was good in that movie and somewhat slimy.
