Glad you got the full score Leo, I to absolutely love that "Fiddler on the Moore" cue as well - The way the sweeping love theme bookends a lengthy cadenza-esque fiddle solo - Really and truly an evocative and very English/Welsh feel to it.

bobbengan, you have described it perfectly, Michael J. Lewis is a very evocative composer.
He seems to paint pictures with his music.

We say the same thing whenever a thread about Michael J Lewis arises.
Never heard a bad score by him whether it was man who haunted himself, 11 harrowhouse, sphinx, medusa touch, north sea hijack, baskervilles, madwoman, and all the others.
He certainly wasnt underrated by the collectors who have heard his scoring and he was as talented as Budd, Goodwin, Schifrin, Barry and his other 70s contemporaries. Bit of an industry secret among those in the know but somehow didnt get widespread recognition and fame he deserved. He could deliver a score far more competent than might be expected from his status, if that makes sense.

And yet everyone wants to talk about [insert title of dull synthy 90's Goldsmith score in need of a re-re-re-re-super deluxe expansion] instead.

I hope everyone here is familiar with his score to THE PASSAGE, which has not only one of the most exciting main titles I've ever heard but also one of Lewis' most heartbreakingly beautiful, soaring themes to send things off:

Very necessary (re: the first sentence).

But, yeah, how amazing would it be to have actual, fully-produced releases of Lewis scores? Artwork, liner notes and everything.

I saw THE PASSAGE a few weeks back and Lewis's music is just smashing. The opening credits, especially, are terrific.

Sorry, can't help myself. The disproportionate love that composer receives around here when there are other equally (and in the case of some, far more so) gifted composers melodically, orchestrationally etc. baffles me endlessly. I guess it's that most people on this board grew up with his music? Goldsmith had passed by the time I came of age/began collecting a few years ago so I can profess no nostalgic collection to any of his music.

But right you are, this thread is supposed to be a celebration of Michael J. Lewis' output...
