THE WALKING DEAD---future episodes will have less violence due to fan criticism and declining ratings after Season 7's premiere. The controversial premiere showed Negan killing two popular characters using violence which fans thought was excessively graphic. Producer Gale Anne Hurd said, “We were able to look at the feedback on the level of violence. We did tone it down for episodes we were still filming for later on in the season. This is not a show that is torture porn, we don’t cross that line.”

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY---James Frain (GOTHAM) will play Sarek, Spock's father, in the new CBS All Access series. Mark Lenard played Sarek in the original cast series and movies.
CBS also announced the series premiere has been delayed again, “Production on ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ begins next week. We love the cast, the scripts and are excited about the world the producers have created. This is an ambitious project; we will be flexible on a launch date if it’s best for the show. We’ve said from the beginning it’s more important to do this right than to do it fast. There is also added flexibility presenting on CBS All Access, which isn’t beholden to seasonal premieres or launch windows.”

AMERICAN CRIME STORY---a future anthology subject will be based on the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky sex scandal book, A VAST CONSPIRACY: THE REAL SEX SCANDAL THAT NEARLY BROUGHT DOWN A PRESIDENT. Other subjects planned include Hurricane Katrina and the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace.

G.I. JOE---DJ Caruso said his rejected script for the third movie had a crossover with the Transformers, “They’re not ready to do [G.I. Joe meets Transformers] yet. That’s exactly what they should do, but they’re not ready to do that because, in fact, the script that I was developing, the two worlds sort of collided at the end, and when they read it they were like, ‘We’re not ready to do this yet.’ They will eventually collide those two worlds, and it’s probably when Mr. Bay decides he’s done with Transformers.
It came close [to happening], but I think what the studio was trying to do was reassess it and so now they’re back to the drawing board, and we’ll be talking again about it. It’s a valuable franchise—[it’s] not that they didn’t get it right, they just wanna really get it right and see if they can push it to the next level.”

FREAKS AND GEEKS---Judd Apatow said he's not interested in a sequel or remake of his NBC series, “I don’t want to do more FREAKS AND GEEKS because we liked how it ended, so I feel it’s unwrapping something and seeing if you can not screw it up; I don’t think we would do that. Also, the world has changed so much. Back then in 1999, we were talking about the pre-computer and cellphone age that was before YouTube, Google, Snapchat. I don’t close the door on anything but my inclination is that we said all we had to say.”

SPIDER-MAN---Sony Pictures Animation movie underway featuring Miles Morales.

BOSTON COLLEGE FIX---movie underway based on the 1978-1979 Boston College basketball point-shaving scandal. Two of the mobsters involved were played by Robert De Niro and Ray Liotta in the movie GOODFELLAS. Seth Gordon (HORRIBLE BOSSES) is the director.

RATTLE---movie underway based on the novel about Detective Etta Fitzroy seeking to stop a bone collector from adding to his gruesome museum of medical oddities.

CROOK COUNTRY---movie underway based on the true story of a Chicago lawyer who went undercover, the largest undercover corruption bust in US history, which led to the arrest of over 100 government officials.

GOOD OMENS---Amazon/BBC six-part comedy miniseries underway based on the novel co-written by Neil Gaiman.

MAJOR CRIMES---TNT renewed the series for Season 6.

THIS IS US---NBC renewed the series for Seasons 2 and 3.

WILL & GRACE---NBC ordered ten episodes of the sitcom's limited-run revival.
