Miguel Ferrer's first feature film role was co-starring as "Pete," a young trucker in 1982's TRUCKIN' BUDDY McCOY. The film was directed by Richard Demarco. There's no evidence that the film had a theatrical release in the U.S., but was apparently a popular video in Australia.
Miguel Ferrer played a Border Patrol agent named "Roget" in the 1984 mystery drama FLASHPOINT. Ferrer's first name was misspelled “Miguell” in the onscreen credits. William Tannen made his directorial debut with the film. The film's score was composed and performed by Tangerine Dream. EMI released the soundtrack, which was reissued by One Way Records in 1995.
When director Tannen hired Tangerine Dream to score the film, he told them not to do the end title song because he had one he was using -- "Sympathy For The Devil" by The Rolling Stones. Tangerine Dream said it was the perfect song to end the film with. They scored the entire film excerpt for the end title. But the studio felt the song was too expensive and instead gave the assignment to one Scott Richardson, an assistant who worked for one of the vice presidents. In his annual video guide, Leonard Maltin terms the result "the worst title song of 1984."
In 1987's ROBOCOP, the character "Bob Morton" was originally conceived as a stereotypical corporate executive--arrogant, unpleasant and unlikable. However, when Miguel Ferrer signed on and gave his performance as an amiable and charismatic individual, producer Edward Neumeier and director Paul Verhoeven realized that the audience would likely start sympathizing with the character, and Bob Morton was rewritten to become the more pleasant individual that he is in the movie. Basil Poledouris' score for the film was most recently re-issued in 2015 by Milan.
"Michael J. 'Jay' Cochran" (Kevin Costner) is a U.S. Navy pilot who is the friend of a powerful, vaguely criminal Mexican millionaire (Anthony Quinn). While visiting the latter on his estate, he has an affair with his host's gorgeous young wife (Madeleine Stowe), for which he is almost beaten to death and the wife mutilated and turned into a junkie prostitute. Miguel Ferrer co- stars as "Amador," who helps Cochran get REVENGE.
The 1990 film was based on a novel by Jim Harrison, who co-wrote the script, and was directed by Tony Scott. Jack Nitzsche's score was released by Silva Screen, and was reissued in 2016 by Dragon's Domain.
In the 1990 horror thriller THE GUARDIAN, "Phil" (Dwier Brown) and "Kate" (Carey Lowell) have a baby boy named Jake. They hire a baby-sitter, "Camilla" (Jenny Seagrove), to look after Jake. But they come to learn that she is not as she first appears. Miguel Ferrer plays a character named "Ralph Hess." William Friedkin directed the film. The score, by Jack Hues, has not had a release.
