To answer your question: My mom was a teacher, and no, it didn't really have any effect on my schooling at all.
Although, when I was in 8th Grade, she was one of the 8th Grade teachers at my school. Thankfully, I wasn't in her classroom for any classes. (I doubt they would have allowed that anyway.) If I had been, I know she would have been harder on me than the other students, just to show that she wasn't "playing favorites"....
My dad is a teacher (although he's nearing retirement age at almost 67) -- on a level that is perhaps somewhere between your high school and college. He teaches hard sciences (math, geography, physics etc.), which couldn't be further from my talent and interest field. But it's no doubt that growing up in an 'intellectual', middle class home has influenced my outlook on life and general ambitions. I was best of my class throughout elementary school and secondary school, and even into university studies. Different fields than my dad, but nonetheless with the same basic 'learning culture' as foundation.
Still, he's not the most 'present' parent. Rather distant, very materialistic and with a terrible temper -- at least during my childhood years. He's mellowed somewhat in recent years. So we don't have the closest connection otherwise.
There isn't necessarily a 1-1 relationship between being a good pedagogue and a good parent.
