Subject says it all.

Edit: As far as I know, Giacchino has scored every Matt Reeves film. As I enjoy Giacchino quite a bit, I am curious to see what he does with the Dark Knight. Assuming he is hired, of course.

I would say there are few things in life as certain as Giacchino being picked to score tentpole movies in the 2010s.

My first thought as well, but would Warner Bros. let Batman out of the hands of Hans Zimmer (and his new teammate in DC matters, Junkie XL)?

He can't score everything.

The possibility of a fun and memorable score in the DCU? Don't tease.

LOL, thats the first thing that popped in my head If matt gets it. I suppose Danny Elfman did Spiderman, Batman and Hulk. So if Giacchino does the Batman + Spider man + doctor strange..Not to bad!

If I can truly advice Michael on approach...I would say, Be You and don't stick to the Zimmer/XL junkie material, I would say think about Elfman or shirley walker if you need inspiration. Avoid your music sounding close in tonality and chord modulation as Startrek/doctor strange PERIOD. I would also say, be BOLD, don't limit your self to orchestra only, Make new Sounds just for Batman.

Can't wait!!!! keep on Rocking Mr Giacchino!

I would prefer a Mcreary Batman but that's probably just me. Good news about Reeves taking over the helm however.

I have no opinion on Giacchino scoring, but Reeves directing is fantastic news. Very promising.

Please no, for the love of God, Giacchino scores every single thing now.

I know. I can't take it. He's the film music equivalent of "The Nothing" from THE NEVER-ENDING STORY.

Maybe Giacchino won't be asked to score this film. Maybe, the WB brass will insist on someone like...Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Reznor/Ross or Giacchino?

Tell me that's not the fastest decision you'd ever make in your life.

I don't know what to expect from Reeves. Cloverfield was awful, Let Me In was competent but unnecessary, and DotPotA was pretty bad. Maybe with a decent script and actors instead of uncanny valley apes this can be decent.

But while the DotPotA score was pretty forgettable, Giacchino had a lot of fun with Cloverfield and Let Me In had its moments so maybe Reeves and a Batman geek-out can inspire him to something quite good.

You're right: It's a very fast decision for me. I worked with Atticus Ross on a pilot, and thought his music was fantastic for what that show was. In virtually every case, I would rather hear film music that's interesting and tries to go in a new direction than, oh I don't know, lukewarm riffs on John Williams material that sounds like it was recorded by a high school orchestra in the 70s.

Great news about Reeves directing.Im glad Affleck stepped down not that he isnt a very capable director, its just that now he can concentrate on giving another awesome Batman performance as he did in BVS.

As for the music i hope they keep the Batman themes established in BVS whichever composer they end up using just like i hope they use Wonder Womans theme from that film in her solo outing.

For Giacchino? Sure they would.

If you think about every decision for these tentpole movies being essentially job insurance for the people making them, it all makes sense. If an executive allowed Zimmer to be replaced by (say) Bear McCreary, he could point to all the wonderful work McCreary has done, but he could not point to a string of box office successes that would essentially be a firewall protecting his decision from second-guessing. With Giacchino, it's very easy to say "Hey, I went with the guy who scored 'Rogue One' and 'Doctor Strange' and 'Inside Out,' and those were huge hits, so you can't blame me!"

And if it seems like I'm being very harsh on these people, let me also say that they all have expenses and mortgages and families, and if I were them, I would want to keep my job, too.

Now that George Miller's not directing THE BATMAN holds no interest for me, the film or score.

I think Miller was alleged for Justice League, years ago. Affleck was going to direct The Batman.

Hans had publicly said he won't score anymore superhero movies after Batman V Superman.

I'm 99% sure Giacchino will score the film. Reeves has worked with Giacchino since "Cloverfield", and Giacchino's scored THREE $1 billion dollar blockbusters within the space of a year ("Jurassic World", "Zootopia", "Rogue One"), as well as half a dozen other blockbusters.

WB is not going to impose another composer on Reeves. If Giacchino doesn't score the film, it'll likely be due to scheduling or personal issues -- not studio interference.
