I have an old PLAYSTATION ONE and a 46" LED and I was
wondering if I can get the PS1 and some old shoot em up games
with actual pistols that you shoot at the screen (remember those?)
to work with the HDTV. Will it work at all with some adapter or
does it work the best on a CRT Screen which I used to have?

Just curious as I have the old PS1 in storage and if it's not
compatible, I'll just forget about it.

Please advise and thanks in advance:-)

They use to work on, LCD televisions & plasma's, it was to do with the pixels which would make it compatible. the newer generation televisions don't allow it to work, there to high in resolution for a gun, I'm not 100% on this but i'm probably right. Play Station 1 machines go for good money now, if you have good games sell it.

It will totally work on a composite input (Yellow Red White) and will look better than it would on a LCD TV, Retro console look great on LED TVs - you'll just want to make sure that you change the display settings to 4:3 to get the right aspect ratio.

What games do you have? big grin

Even if the console doe's work, Games with a gun do not work 100% fact.

I mainly have a few games that involve gunfights,
that you shoot at the screen with a pistol.

You say this kind of game will work with a composite
connection? Just like a CRT Screen?

Yep, and your LED TV should still have that input. I also hook up my Super Nintendo that way too. wink

Now if you have an actual "Light Gun" that you shoot at the screen - this will not work. You'll need a CRT TV, but if you just use a regular controller you're good to go. Sorry - missed the gun part in your first post...

This might help you, if you want to go to the trouble of slapping all this crap together.

Yeah, that's what I have, a bunch of light guns.

Thanks for posting the video - it was interesting
but not worth the trouble.

I suppose I will just leave the stuff in storage.

Thanks again my friend!:-)
