Kino Lorber will bring to Blu-ray director Ken Annakin's film Monte Carlo or Bust! (1969) starring Bourvil, Lando Buzzanca, Walter Chiari, Peter Cook, and Tony Curtis. The release will be available for purchase on April 25.

Synopsis: Screen legend Tony Curtis leads an all-star international cast in this hilarious, romantic and action-packed romp! Set in glorious Monte Carlo, this hugely entertaining follow-up to Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines follows the dashing Schofield (Curtis) as he teams up with the scheming Sir Cuthbert Ware-Armitage (Terry-Thomas) in a zany, winner-take-all car rally beset with scheming competitors, treacherous cliffs - and a very beguiling blonde (Susan Hampshire).

Special Features:
NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian David Del Valle, moderated by Filmmaker Elijah Drenner
Optional English SDH subtitles for the main feature
***

The label has also revealed the official cover art for the upcoming Blu-ray releases of Anthony Simmons' The Optimists (1973) and Jacques Demy's The Pied Piper (1972). The two releases will be available for purchase in May.

Unfortunately for me, it's nowhere near as good as THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES and I'm not the biggest fan of Tony Curtis' comedies (I'm probably one of the few that doesn't think that much of THE GREAT RACE, outside of the late Natalie Wood.).

I have this movie already on a US Blu-ray, but only for reference because TMMITFM is a favorite, and I suspect this UK edition may be a better transfer and I'm intrigued by what the commentary track might have to say, but the movie just isn't that funny and too often way too forced for my tastes.
