I asked the same thing at Intrada a few days ago.
No response, who knows.....I hope so, I don't think I've heard it, and there are (inexplicably ) Giorgio Moroder cues on it??

Doug Fake has indicated that it may be a 2cd set with the OST score album on disc 2 with a few alternates etc.

Has he? He's certainly suggested that the album version of "Preparations" would be included - but I've not heard reference to the rest. The score cues are otherwise the same as their film counterparts and two of the three songs have nothing to do with the movie whatsoever!

The Bill Medley version of "He Ain't Heavy..." would be a cool inclusion I guess...

I'm curious if there was any initial idea for Goldsmith to write another song, ala the first two, with maybe his Afghanistan theme as the hook?

There's one alternate (barely so at that), one new cue based on the worst material of the score, so not much new stuff. I'd rather the discs were filled out as much as possible, even if I only play the Scotti bits once!

To be honest, the potential sound quality improvement (beyond the improvement already found in Intrada's first re-issue) is more appealing than the extra music.

I'd be delighted if the original album was included if it meant the full score can still sit on one disc (otherwise I fear it will be broken into two equal programs).

Update from Doug from the Intrada board:

http://www.intrada.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7330&start=15

.... we're working on this idea as i write. The never-before-released alternate for "Another Time", which is shorter with a slightly altered performance of the trumpet solo, is actually the version used in the film. So I really want to have it on this completely re-mastered version... which means a 2-CD set would be necessary. It turns out the cue called "Insane" was edited onto another cue way back when so it'll appear just as it always has after all. A previously unreleased separate take of the percussion section for "The Joust" also has a couple of seconds of tympani pre-roll that didn't make it onto any of the previous releases so that may find its way onto the extras, just for completists - though including the heavily-edited version Jerry put together for Scotti Bros. would make a total of three (!) versions appearing now! Since the entire end title in the movie is the song "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother", it makes sense to have it included as well, if we can. This brings in Scotti Brothers, who we originally shared a license with back when the movie was new in the late eighties. If everything works out, then including the entire Scotti Bros. release, which featured songs, a Giorgio Moroder piece and seven Goldsmith score cues will all help create a proper-length second CD. No separate trailer music was written for the third movie beyond cut-and-paste tracking from the previous movies. And we've done the Carolco logo already. In any case, the 2-CD idea gets everything Jerry recorded including the two extras, plus the Scotti Bros. release for those interested in a different approach to presenting the movie's music. That's where the discussions are at now.

Whatever we end up doing, the entire 77-minute score disc has already been licensed and has been completely re-edited and newly mastered, finally presenting the score in film chronology with several of the more-awkward (though fine for 1989 purposes) assemblies updated. And we'll have all-new packaging. This is the Rambo III that I want to look at and play. big grin

Sounds fabulous! Count me in for a quadruple dip (I bought both previous Intrada editions)

Delighted that "Another Time" is finally being presented in its proper sequence :-)

"Another Time" is one of my all time favorite cues, not just of the Goldsmith Rambo series, but of Jerry's entire catalog. The way it calls to all the themes of the series in a melancholic way, so great.

I actually like its placement at the start of the last Intrada expansion. The way it and I'll Stay bookend the album is ace.

And this wont have diminishing returns? Thinking about proposed Buck Rodgers in the 25th Century Volume 3 and Intrada comment on why wont do it. Yes I will buy another Rambo III but if you're gonna do another Rambo do some new Buck.

Maybe it is and they have clearance issues. Maybe there was more work to be done.
