Don't let it go at that, man! Mazeltov! And give us details, please. PS: Did we ever have that discussion? (Forgive my senior moment.) Preston Back on Monday...

"I have a question for you, Preston. Would you have wanted the movie to be filmed in color? Or do you prefer the black and white?" I'm sorry, Joan, I somehow missed your question the first time around. Why do you ask? Would you? As you know from my book, Stanley Cortez rather surprisingly suggests that maybe THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER should have been in color, because then it would get more TV broadcast visibility. As for me, the answer is a simple No. There are several areas where I might wish my favorite film had been done differently, and I discuss them in the book, but the masterful monochrome design and cinematography are not among them.

Tomorrow night (Saturday, August 5) at the Aero Theater in Santa Monica, in celebration of Robert Mitchum's centenary, I'll be introducing THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, on a double bill with CROSSFIRE. There will also be a signing of both my books, the one on HUNTER and the one on STAR TREK-THE MOTION PICTURE. (Also in attendance will be HUNTER's Second Unit director, Oscar-winner Terry Sanders. Incidentally, his new movie, LIZA, LIZA, SKIES ARE GREY, will be opening August 18th.)
