The stumbled across this main title sequence while browsing this cool site "Art of the Title".

I had never heard of the movie or the composer, but was struck by the music. Very different.
Does anyone know much about this film or its composer? Is the rest of the score as good as the main title?
I see that the film can be watched on Amazon Prime so I have to check it out when I have time.

His Wiki entry is interesting. I could claim I knew all that info already, but I didn't. Check it out. The only reason I'm posting is that Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson is a name that has stuck with me ever since I picked up the LP (decades ago) of Donald Byrd's fantastic score for CORNBREAD, EARL AND ME, on which CTP was music supervisor (possibly arranger and conductor too - can't remember).

Well, I watched the film on Amazon Prime and It appears I got excited over nothing. The score is very sparse and is mostly just re-workings of the Main Theme along with some suspense noodling and some short bits of a romantic theme. Probably wouldn't make for a good stand-alone listen.
The film is OK. A fairly standard Western with extra racial themes involving hatred of blacks and Native Americans and prejudice against mixed marriages. Good cast although the casting of David Carradine and Nancy Kwan as Native Americans seems odd through today's prism. Standard practice back then though and Kwan is especially good in her role.
Jack Palance is so over-the-top E-V-I-L it makes some of his other villain roles seems positively restrained. He has a big chaw in his mouth all the time and literally chews the scenery. big grin

You haven't lived until you've seen Jack Palance in an episode of "Ripley's Beleive it or Not!" where he rather sensually fondles a mannequin.

I think he got excited over everything he did, even taking a wiz.
