MCA vinyl in the US in the 1970s was pretty awful, wasn't it?

And don't turn this into another vinyl-hating thread. I am talking specifically about 1970s MCA vinyl in the US.




Yep, I agree. Those MCA 1970s LPs were terrible. I returned THE EIGER SANCTION 3 times, then gave up! I thought the RCA Gerhardt series in the 70s sounded wonderful. I'm happy with CDs.

MCA pressings were the worst. Jaws, Dracula, Legend of the Lone Ranger, E.T., Masada -- all were crackly and noisy! I wound-up buying the more expensive "audiophile" LP of E.T. (pressed on "Teldec" vinyl) just to have a decent-sounding record.

My ears were so low fi back then I was just boned to hear the music at all..
