Has Ridley Scott, run out of ideas, another awful Alien movie, just looks like a similar Alien, & Aliens mashed together cheaply. the cast looks poor to, this is doomed at the box office.

Has Ridley Scott run out of ideas?!!!

LOL!!!!!!!

All except one.

Chashing in on his previous successes.

He's not the only one. Have you seen the trailers for LIFE? Aside from the ALIEN horror/scifi monster angle (and looking like a New Outer Limits episode), there's a woman in space suit screaming in one trailer, and a guy in spacesuit screaming in the other. The tagline will probably be "In Space, everyone can hear you scream."

Jeez . . . In space, you can be heard shrieking in the red corner, shouting in the blue corner, and making a lot of noise in the grey corner!

It's all a bit of a shame really - the egg ladened derelict, the space jockey, and the alien itself always seemed more elementally frightening when their origins were completely mysterious, unknown and unknowable. Probably how it would actually play out in a real such encounter. See, THAT'S scary and genuinely alien.

But rationalising them with tired old Von Daniken type ancient-space-humans crap and literal minded bio-weapon backstories etc always seemed to drag the thing into the mundane and commonplace.

Oh well.......

". . . and they probably redesigned the whole sickbay too. I know Engineers - they love to change things!"

The spacemen line wasn't too bad - within the confines of sci-fi it's OK. Anyway, it looks as if the Engineers are going to be made extinct in one way or another. That will generate problems in itself. A super-race of beings with command over matter being undone by a pre-Ash twitchy - yeah, right? It reminds me of the line from Joubert in Condor, when he's outlining how Turner is alone and confused, making it impossible for the professionals to predict where he's going to be off to next.

As for bio-weapons, why not nuke the site from orbit, or, if the planet is in the Goldilocks zone it might explain why you'd use rat poison instead?

Yeah, I dont think there would be an ALIEN and sequels if the prequels came first. I'm not sure they'd work if watched in "chronological" order because there would be no mystery or suspense for the audience. You can say the prequels merely depict "behind the scenes" events which led to more altruistic androids (following Asimov's rules in ALIENS) and Corporate looking for ALIENs (which they apparently knew already existed). But then why isnt Corporate searching more aggressively for ALIENs instead of following Ripley in every film (which is as absurd as sharks targeting the Brody family in JAWS sequels)? Someone could mitigate that criticism by hypothesizing there are many other "Ripleys" being followed by Corporate, but their stories are untold, and the whole project a corporate secret. I guess in the future, there isnt any wikileaks.

I wonder if Toho will make a prequel for "Attack of the Mushroom People" where it turns out the fungus was invented as biomedical weapon by Nazis.roll eyes
