This is in Italian but you can still get the sense of the enormous accomplishments of this master guitarist, whistler, choir master, composer and everything else under the musical sun. I had the honor of seeing him perform Morricone pieces at the Autry Museum a number of years ago.
Hes doing very well, considering his age, and keeping fit. Spends several months of the year in south africa and the rest in italy. Happy birthday alex.
I had the pleasure of meeting and listening to Alessandro in London at the Contemporary Art Centre (?!). It was an honour to have dinner with him, Gianna Spagnulo, Sir Prof Christopher Frayling, Laurence Staig etc. prior to the concert. You couldn't wish for a more humble and pleasant person. A great occasion that I will never forget.
And there's a nice photo of me and Alessandro in my study room :-).
He wrote a piece of library music, "Act of Faith" for choir and strings, that I find deeply and profoundly moving - and intend to use in a film of my own some day!
I was about to link the same cue! The whole 8-minute suite released from this film is probably my favourite piece by his, hopefully it will be released fully some day.
And happy birthday! Such an unmistakable sound and talent. Sadly he's very underrated as composer and certainly more releases of his film scores would be needed.
