WEDNESDAY, MARCH 22

CHURCHILL---trailer released for the biomovie about Winston Churchill during D-Day starring Brian Cox (THE BOURNE IDENTITY).

BAYWATCH---trailer released for the Dwayne Johnson movie based on the tv series.

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY---writer Gary Whitta said Orson Krennic survived the Death Star blast on Scarif in the original script, "They tore him out of the rubble and they brought him back. When they’re going over the ruins, he somehow survived. It’s a bit of a reach, which is why it isn’t in the finished film. He survived the blast and they pulled him up and brought him to the Star Destroyer to report to Vader. He’s all beat up, his cape’s all torn up and stuff, and he thinks he has survived. Vader kills him for his failure.”

WORLD WAR Z---Skydance Media head David Ellison said he hopes David Fincher (THE SOCIAL NETWORK, ZODIAC) will direct the sequel, “There’s a script that we’re incredibly happy with, and it’s just getting a couple of key deals closed… We hope [Fincher] makes the movie.”
Ellison also said THE TERMINATOR might have another sequel in the future, “I will say we have resolved the future of the franchise and believe me its an incredibly bright future. I think where it’s going will be the continuation of what the fans really wanted since T2.
He added, "We have something this year that we will be announcing for the franchise. It’s something we’re incredibly excited about and we think is the direction it needs to head.”

DOCTOR WHO---Season 10 will include a three-part episode and will introduce new villain, The Monks.

IT: THE STORY OF PENNYWISE---Tim Curry will appear in this feature-length documentary about the making of the 1990 miniseries based on the Stephen King novel. It is not known if other cast members will also be featured.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST---Walt Disney Pictures production head Sean Bailey commented on a possible sequel, “There are currently no plans for a sequel and the studio — perhaps with ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS as a reminder — won’t try to force one. It will explore possible spinoff and prequel scenarios.”

WONDER WOMAN---the movie has received a PG-13 rating.

VOD---six of the seven major Hollywood studios are considering releasing their major movies to home viewers via premium video on demand for as low as $30 and at a shorter date after the theatrical premieres. Currently, most major movies are released on physical discs 90 days after their premieres. 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures, Lionsgate and Paramount Pictures are backing the early release plan. Walt Disney Pictures is not supporting it.
Universal's proposal is 20 days for all movies. 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. want a 30-45 day viewing date depending on how big the movie is. Sony wants a longer waiting period with a higher fee.

I don't know what's worst, Dwayne Johnson as a comical Wrestler, or an actor/director, the only half decent film he has been in is the Scorpion King, & even that is Sox to a point. Other than the lady-life guards, there's nothing else in this flick. Dwayne Johnson, is trying to be the Hoffmeister, terrible idea. 0/10

I will take that back, to a degree, of all the wrestlers, that have been actors, Dwayne is by far the best will see, there you go..

I liked him in JOURNEY 2 MYSTERIOUS ISLAND but I can't say I've seen him in owt else.
I've never bothered with the F&F films, he was a CGI joke in SCORPION KING and...that's about it.
His two newest films (BAYWATCH and JUMANJI reboots) are stuff I will probably avoid (certainly the former, we'll see about the latter).
He does seem to ooze that PR charm in interviews though, that served Tom Cruise so well for many years.

He oozes charisma. He's got presence. And he seems like a genuinely good guy in real life. In most roles he is, as they say, more a movie star than an actor, but that's okay for the type of role he usually fills.

And sometimes he's called on to do more and he usually steps up. Say what you will about Hercules but he put his all into that role. Say what you will about Southland Tales but he played squirrely against type 3. Honestly his grimmer meathead F&F stuff bores me but when he has more fun with a role I'm usually happy to have fun with him.

Yeah I'll give you all that. Though I can't think of a single film of his I ever thought was good.

That doesn't correct for the lunacy of saying The Scorpion King is Dwayne Johnson's best movie.
