Your thoughts on Jack Nitzsche's score from ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST?

I thought it worked well in the film and loved that triumphant final cue with the Chief.

Great score and the ending is so powerful, I miss these moments in film as they come fewer and farther between.

That's for sure...it seems like composers are actively discouraged from writing strong, emotional, melodic cues like that. It was the perfect emotional release at that point in the film. A really magnificent cue.

It's really one of the few musical high points in the film though. Most of the score is diegetic music and is purposefully meant to be kind of boring and bland...music played over the hospital sound system to "calm the patients". That may in part help with making the final cue so powerful.
