HAN SOLO---Walt Disney Company head Bob Iger gave details about the young Han Solo movie, "We're actually shooting now an origin story of Han Solo, which will come out in 2018. That picks up with Han Solo when he was 18 years old and takes him through when he was 24. There are a few significant things that happen in Han Solo's life, like acquiring a certain vehicle and meeting a certain Wookiee that will happen in this film. But you will also discover how he got his name."
He said about Carrie Fisher, "When we bought Lucasfilm, we were going to make three films - Episodes VII, VIII and IX. We had to deal tragedy at the end of 2016. Carrie appears throughout VIII. We are not changing VIII to deal with her passing. Her performance remains as it is in VIII. In ROGUE ONE, we had some digital character. We are not doing that with Carrie."
Iger said about future STAR WARS movies, "We're starting talk about what could happen after EPISODE IX. About what could be another decade-and-a-half of STAR WARS stories."

DEADPOOL 2---supposed leaked concept art from the sequel's production office shows Brad Pitt as villain Cable. However, a source said Pitt is no longer interested in the role and has "moved on", but the source added that there is "the possibility that things could change."

TWIN PEAKS---photo released from the Showtime sequel series.

WESTWORLD---Talulah Riley (Angela) has been promoted to a regular cast member. HBO said, “Angela will prove to be one of the last faces many guests will ever see.”

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6---Sian Brooke (SHERLOCK) has joined the sequel cast in an undisclosed role.

MANIAC COP---Nicolas Winding Refn remake of the 1988 Bruce Campbell cult classic movie is underway. The remake is about a female LAPD cop trying to solve a series of grisly murders by a fellow cop. John Hyams (UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: DAY OF RECKONING) is the director. Hyams is the son of director Peter Hyams (OUTLAND, CAPRICORN ONE).

CAPTAIN AMERICA---Chris Evans commented on his future with the franchise, “It’s really not up to me. My contract is up. I’m not going to sit here and say, ‘No more.’ I think Hugh Jackman has made 47 Wolverine movies, and they somehow keep getting better. It’s a character I love, and it’s a factory that really knows what they’re doing. The system is sound, over there. They make great movies. If they weren’t kicking out quality, I’d have a different opinion. But, everything Marvel does seems to be cinema gold. And like I said, I love the character. The only reason it would end is ‘cause my contract is up. After Avengers 4, my contract is done. Talk to Marvel. If we engage further, I’d be open to it. I love the character. It’s almost like high school. You certainly always look to senior year, and then, all of a sudden, senior year happens and you’re like, ‘I don’t know if I’m ready to go.’ It’s tough thinking about not playing the guy.”

THANK YOU FOR SMOKING---tv series underway based on the 2006 movie that starred Aaron Eckhart.

BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE---director Brett Ratner (RUSH HOUR) commented on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie rating website, “The worst thing that we have in today’s movie culture is Rotten Tomatoes… I think it’s the destruction of our business. I have such respect and admiration for film criticism. When I was growing up, film criticism was a real art … there was intellect that went into that.
He added, "You would read Pauline’s Kael’s reviews, or some others, and that doesn’t exist anymore. Now it’s about a number. A compounded number of how many positives vs. negatives. Now it’s about, ‘What’s your Rotten Tomatoes score?’ And that’s sad, because the Rotten Tomatoes score was so low on ‘Batman v Superman,’ I think it put a cloud over a movie that was incredibly successful.”
Ratner's Ratpac company helped finance BATMAN v SUPERMAN.

BENT---synopsis released for movie starring Karl Urban, Sofia Vergara and Andy Garcia.

"Bent is a powerful action/suspense/thriller in the classic noir tradition. It’s the redemptive tale of Danny Gallagher (Karl Urban), a shamed and discredited narcotics detective who, upon his release from prison, makes plans to seek revenge on the accuser who framed him and killed his partner. In seeking out the truth of what happened the night his partner was killed, and he was framed, Gallagher investigates the mysterious car bomb murder of a local bookie’s sister. Gallagher soon discovers that the murder is connected to an elaborate conspiracy involving high-stakes treason with major international implications.
The story of the film examines the themes of loyalty and betrayal played out through the vast corruption of our most secret government agencies along with the compelling characters of society’s criminal underbelly. The story’s twists and turns force Gallagher to confront a ruthless, seductive government agent (Sofia Vergara), who may or may not be on his side; and his mentor Murtha (Andy Garcia), a retired cop, who’s fought corruption his entire career."

THE ANARCHISTS vs ISIS---Jake Gyllenhaal stars in this movie based on a ROLLING STONE article about a ragtag group of American volunteers who help the Kurdish militia, the YPG, battle ISIS.

BLACK SAMURAI---movie underway about Yasuke, the first black serve a warlord in mid-1500s Japan.

A STAR IS BORN---Andrew Dice Clay is in negotiations to play the father of Lady Gaga's character in the remake movie.

BARBIE---Amy Schumer dropped out of the movie based on the Mattel toy line due to schedule problems.

A Maniac Cop remake? That could be good.

Brett Ratner seems to be annoyed at the wrong thing. He should be annoyed at how bad the film was, as opposed to some online reviews aggregator.

Black Samurai could be intersting, too. But I bet they screw it up.

That's gonna be one ga-ga movie!

And is Kyle MacLachlan looking more and more like the late Robert Vaughn, or what? Too bad he doesn't have the same voice.

While he'll never get many compliments around this place for it, I can say that Chris Evans is the only actor who played his character BETTER onscreen than it was in the comics. I applaud the class he brought to Captain America and for bringing the character to cinematic life.

I have never visited Rotten Tomatoes and never rely on it or really any other critical apparatus for seeing movies, but BvS gets a bad rap while utter bilge like the all woman GHOSTBUSTERS emerges unscathed because of gutless politically correct "critics." It also got a PC "pass" from most people here.

Meanwhile, BvS was a box office hit and sequels continue, whereas the all woman Ghostbusters is dead in the water--as it should be.
