It's a noodle western that will make you hungry and spew your food laughing. The vignette with the mother dying after cooking dinner will make you laugh and cry at the same time. The English have very dry humor. The Japanese have very weird humor.

Oh...YES! Babette's Feast (1987) is definitely not a film to watch on an empty stomach! Another one is Big Night (1996), with Tony Shalhoub, Stanley Tucci, Ian Holm, and a pile of other stars. The food in this movie makes you wish you were there, eating!
