It was really very fortunate in that one of the buildings levelled by the blast had been the venue of a children's dance class only an hour earlier. That doesn't bear thinking about.
That's just over the water (Mersey) from us. A lad in work who lives near there said he was in the flicks Saturday night and heard a big bang and rumble, during the film, but thought it was another screening nearby being really loud. It wasn't until he was leaving the cinema and he switched on his phone and noticed lots of 'are you ok' messages that he found out what the big bang rumble had been. But yeah, some major fortune with the timing and potential casualty list.
Its just so lucky, that it was late in the night & hardly any one around, the outcome in the day would of been devastating, hundreds would of been injured. I heard it on radio 5 news threw the night, the blast was thought by some, in the area, to bee a train wreckage, that's a pretty loud noise explosion.
