THURSDAY, MARCH 30

IT---trailer released for the movie based on the Stephen King novel.

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6JjVwuT2Sk

BLADE RUNNER 2049---VARIETY description of the sequel film footage presented by Ryan Gosling:

“The extended preview that the actor brought with him to Las Vegas stunned the crowd, featuring an apocalyptic Los Angeles and Las Vegas filled with snow, dust storms, and dazed looking androids, all of it created in Budapest. There were also several visual callbacks to sequences and sets from the first picture that are sure to tickle fans … The new footage showed more of Harrison Ford’s Rick Deckard and Gosling’s Officer K, as well as a creepy look at Jared Leto, playing a manufacturer of replicants with a daddy complex. In one shot, Leto lovingly caresses a naked android, who appears to have been doused in amniotic fluid.”

OPERATION FINALE---Oscar Isaac (STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS) stars in this movie as Mossad agent Peter Malkin who pursues Nazi officer Adolf Eichmann in Argentina to avenge the deaths of his sister and her children in the Holocaust. Chris Weitz, who co-wrote ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, is the director.

DEADPOOL 2---director David Leitch confirmed Brad Pitt won't play Cable in the sequel, "We had a great meeting with Brad, he was incredibly interested in the property. Things didn't work out schedule-wise. He's a fan, and we love him, and I think he would've made an amazing Cable."
Leitch also commented on rumors that Michael Shannon will play Cable, "You know, I think, Michael Shannon, that name speaks for itself, he's an incredible actor and he can accomplish anything."
He added, "Yeah, I'm passionate about him as an actor and, look, he would make an incredible Cable. If that happens, I would be through the roof that I get to work with another incredible actor. I can't say that it's going to happen, because we're looking-the list is what the list is. But, yeah, I have nothing but great things to say about him and I'm a huge, huge fan."

TERMS OF ENDEARMENT---director Lee Daniels commented on his remake of the 1983 movie that will star Oprah Winfrey, "I've got to tell stories that are important to me, and so many African-American women died. I want to make Flap [played by Jeff Daniels in the original film] gay and infect the Debra Winger character. And then we explore the '80s in a different way." Shirley MacLaine and Jack Nicholson starred in the original movie.

WONDER WOMAN---new photo released from the movie shows Chris Pine and Gal Gadot.

SUPERHERO MOVIES---Aaron Sorkin (THE SOCIAL NETWORK) said he might write a superhero movie, “I happen to have meetings coming up with both DC and Marvel. I have to go into these meetings and tell them as respectfully as I can that I have never read a comic book. It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s just that I’ve never been exposed to one. So I’m hoping that somewhere in their library is a comic book character that I’m going to love and that I’m going to want to go back and start reading from the first issue on.”

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP---Jeremy Renner will reportedly play Hawkeye in the sequel.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR---Elizabeth Olsen was at the film site in Edinburgh, Scotland which confirms that Scarlet Witch is in the sequel.

ZOMBIE BROTHER---movie underway based on the Chinese comic book about a guy who must survive after a city's virus-contaminated water supply turns its residents into zombies. Channing Tatum is co-producer. Matt Lieberman (THE JETSONS, THE FLINTSTONES) will write the script.

THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS---director F. Gary Gray said the sequel will introduce a new trilogy, "As the world sees this movie, they'll see how it's the beginning of a new trilogy."

TIME AFTER TIME---ABC pulled the series based on the 1979 movie from its schedule which indicates it has been cancelled.

THE MINDY PROJECT---Hulu renewed the series for Season 6 which will be its last.

ANNABELLE: CREATION---is the official title of the horror sequel.

AKIRA---Jordan Peele (GET OUT) is reportedly the top candidate to direct the movie based on the manga.

Wow, everyone loves everyone else in Hollywood. It must be the best and healthiest place to work, from the lowliest "background artist" to the biggest of big shot producers...it truly must be Heaven on Earth.

THURSDAY, MARCH 30

THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS---director Dominic Toretto said the sequel will introduce a new trilogy, "As the world sees this movie, they'll see how it's the beginning of a new trilogy."

Just a quickie correction: Dominic Toretto is Vin Diesel's character. F. Gary Gray is the director of the film.

Thanks, Dragon!

I haven't seen any of the new Apes films, other than 15 minutes while channel surfing. They don't interest me at all. Just not interested in CGI apes. As terrible as Burton's ape film was, at least the practical make-up was amazing. (excluding lipstick on Zira)

Whenever I catch a few minutes of Burton's POTA while channel surfing (and a few minutes of it -- or less! -- is all I can stand), I still the makeup looks just as unconvincing as that in the original films -- but at least the original films had better makeup design!

Yeah, I don't think all that of the CGI in the new APES movies, but to put actors in monkey suits, no matter how good, are still going to be people in monkey suits, so the CGI will have to do.

I can suspend my disbelief. Just like King Kong isn't a normal ape, the apes in POTA's have evolved into a more humanoid form. Though I agree a few thousand years isn't long enough by any stretch of the imagination.

I had no interest in the new POTA films but actually enjoyed them a lot when I saw them. I'll probably watch this on blu-ray somewhere down the line but I think they're definitely worth a watch.

Operation Finale sounds like it might be good. Great story and I like Isaac.

Interesting approach Sorkin has to the potential writing of a super hero film. It'd be interesting to see which one, if any, interests him. I'm hoping he says Justice League Antarctica or Ambush Bug.

I've gone from having no interest to probably watching Bladerunner at the pictures.

Howard the Duck. Or Transmetropolitan.

The Burton APES is pants, but it has a few qualities going for it -- production design, makeup, Elfman's score and Tim Roth.

I've actually enjoyed the new APES movies. Far more engrossing than any of the original movies, which were mostly camp -- even if I like them for what they are, especially the first.

Wow, everyone loves everyone else in Hollywood. It must be the best and healthiest place to work, from the lowliest "background artist" to the biggest of big shot producers...it truly must be Heaven on Earth.

It's the same incestuous atmosphere as comes across on Entertainment Tonight and Extra!, and when all on Today or GMA or morning drive radio cackles in unison at the most juvenile of crap.

The new APES movies are in no way more engrossing than the 1968 original, which also isn't "mostly camp." But, I'm not surprised that Thor would use the term, since I find his sensibilities to be shallow.

The original PLANET OF THE APES isn't perfect, but not even Thor could muster half of the intelligence of this Hollywood Reporter review of the 1968 classic SF film back before it was even called a classic.

By the way, here's the trailer for WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES
