The original title of BLAST-OFF, of course, was ROCKET TO THE MOON, under which title Kritzerland has just released a CD of the original soundtrack LP. It's odd that Olive Films would release the film under the title BLAST-OFF, since that was the title given to the edited version of the film, while Olive is presenting the unedited version on the Blu-ray. And it's doubly odd, given that the on-screen title of the film is THOSE FANTASTIC FLYING FOOLS. So, was it some contractual reason that required Olive to release a film under the title of its edited version, when the actual film on the disc is the unedited version that sports a completely different title? Perhaps not. All of the websites that have information on the video, as provided by the distributor, list the running time of the disc as 95 minutes. Does the back of the disc cover list this as the running time as well? This may be a case of MGM providing Olive with a unedited master of the film, when it thought that it was providing the edited version. Or perhaps it's a case of MGM's paperwork not even reflecting that there once WAS an unedited version of the film. In any case, it's good to know that "Olive’s Blu-Ray preserves the original 119-minute running time of its international release." On another note, could there be any less appealing cover art than that used by Olive for this release? Simply appalling.
