Things are great with every label, I was completely wrong on every single level. I profusely apologize for my ignorance smile -drivingmissdaisy

I wasn't sure where else to put general happy sentiments, but....
July has been a great month (part of June too I suppose).
We've seen a goldmine to keep EVERY Era appeased lately. Papillon, Great Race, Wild wild west, good morning Vietnam /operation dumbo drop, unlawful entry, a Poledouris double header, a Brian May reissue that's great fun, just to name a few titles, covering the 60's to 90's, plus the usual new stuff for you Zimmerheads, and TWO Giacchino's (sort of, one still coming,...)

For all the bitching, and "I also need a pony" type comments here, I just stepped back and took a look at the flood of good stuff we've had put out over the past few weeks, and wondered if anyone else had the same holy cow! moment.

I do agree GoblinScore, July has been really good for me also so far! I already have Goldsmith's Papillon and this morning the latest Quartet release Lady Jane/Stephen Oliver arrived from Spain. I haven't played it yet (later this evening) but it is a lovely looking release in keeping with Quartet's very high standards, great booklet and lots of colour stills etc!

On my list to order also are The Great Race, Wild Wild West, Good Morning Vietnam+Operation Dumbo Drop, and I'm considering Varese's The Yakuza by Dave Grusin (bah Miss Daisy, lol, only kidding!). What a great batch of new releases! I will also be getting Delerue's Les Chevaux du Soleil(Horses of The Sun) from Music Box. And on top of all that came the announcement from Ray Faiola recently that we can look forward to some "big" news on the Max Steiner front, wow, fantastic...things sure ain't slowing down!!!

I too hope that whatever complete scores of Herbert Stothart at MGM that still exist will find its way on to a box set. My favorite is his score for THE HUMAN COMEDY. It was not only Louis B. Mayer's favorite film, but my favorite as well. To have THE GOOD EARTH would be fantastic also.

Cody, I'm with you. I always had hope FSM would release more Stothart, especially The Good Earth and Mutiny on the Bounty. I remember the liner notes on the old Rhino "The Lion's Roar" set noted that most of the prerecordings survive from Mutiny on the Bounty.

Now the difficult part. Finding a label that agrees with us.

Sign me up for any Herbert Stothart CDs. 2017 has given us many surprises I didn't expect. Perhaps Ray's Max Steiner the end of August? smile

The Steiner is 'Helen of Troy'......
Kidding, I have zero intel, but personally hope it is, and it's a title I see bandied about often enough!
Glad to see a few agree - I think my 'aha!' stemmed from the era's covered in such a short time span. In looking back just a couple weeks before , didn't a new, spectacular looking Tiomkin finally land (Duel )?

It was just nice to see everyone included I guess was the ultimate point - one or two groups always seem slighted. I'm enjoying it since who knows how much longer we have.....
-Sean
