Cashews, macadamias (especially of the chocolate-coated variety), pistachios, and walnuts are all da absolute shiznit. (I especially enjoy eating walnuts in unison with giant stuffed green olives. )
I don't often find myself eating hazelnuts, pecans or pine nuts, so no comment there.
The only nut I don't care for is the brazil nut. They just do not taste good to me. And they outsize every other nut, which makes them even more bothersome when included in nut mixes.
I love all the ones listed above. They're all crunchy and tasty, and not to mention relatively healthy! Mixed nuts are an ideal Christmas present for me, and I love it when my aunt sends them to me!!
Love all the nuts! Oh wait we're not talking about FSM members? Seriously I love nuts, but they are very fattening and they upset my stomach. So I don't eat them anymore.
Nuts are amazing. Nature's perfect winter food. Packed full of good fats and protein and fiber and micronutrients to keep you warm through the winter when crops and game were scarce. Too fatty to eat in bulk but so so good for you.
Walnuts are possibly some of the best for you, maybe contributing to arterial health, and I usually mix in a handful of raw walnuts with my breakfast cereal. A brazil nut a day is good. Pistachios are a nutritional powerhouse. Peanuts aren't true nuts but are full of protein and good for colon health.
I do tend to eat nuts raw instead of roasted and salted, which took a little getting used to, but occasionally when the going gets tough I'll splurge on dark chocolate almonds.
I love walnuts with chocolate. Peanuts are wonderful in general. I've presently some delightful wasabi-flavored peanuts in my pantry; and almonds are simply the best--coated with chocolate or otherwise (lightly salted is nice).
Flavored peanuts and almonds are a staple of my diet.
Blue Diamond brand Salt & Vinegar almonds are super salty and tangy. Just the way I like it. The Smokehouse flavor is also great.
The Carolina Nut Company makes my favorite peanuts. Their Honey Roasted Chipotle flavor is fantastic. They make about 13 different flavors. You get a 12 oz. can at Food Lion grocery stores for only $2.49 per can. You can buy them online but they're too expensive that way.
Thanks for this! Interesting yet simple recipe. I think I'll stick with store-bought though. Given the cost of almonds, I doubt I would save anything making my own.

It's pleasant to do the homemade almond milk during summer time. Believe me. Very refreshing.
Literally no mention so far of my favourite - the chestnut. I like cashews, monkey nuts and dry-roasted peanuts in particular, but I'm happy with any that are put in front of me. However, none can compare with roasted chestnuts and it's just as well that they're only in the shops for a few weeks up to Christmas.
