STAR WARS---Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy commented on rumors that Lucasfilm will release the original, unretouched theatrical trilogy in HD now that George Lucas sold the franchise to the Walt Disney Company, “I wouldn’t touch those, are you kidding me? [laughs] Those will always remain his."
Also,a source said in THE LAST JEDI, Luke Skywalker wears a necklace which contains a red crystal which was part of the Kyber crystal from Darth Vader's lightsaber. Kylo Ren is seeking the necklace because, “If Luke Skywalker has the last Darth Vader Kyber crystal, someone like Kylo Ren would really want it. I don’t know why Luke Skywalker doesn’t just destroy it. But he would clearly see that someone as into symbolism as Kylo Ren would be even more of a monster if he possessed it. If it is a story element, will Kylo get it back and stabilize his saber with the power source of his Grandfather’s lightsaber? It doesn’t sound like Kylo is getting it without getting better of Luke Skywalker first though.”

HUE 1968---miniseries underway based on the upcoming book by Mark Bowden (BLACK HAWK DOWN) about the 1968 Battle of Hue that was the turning point in the Vietnam War. Michael Mann (MIAMI VICE, COLLATERAL) is the director and co-producer.

RAMPAGE---the plot for the Dwayne Johnson movie based on the arcade game has three canisters released from a privately-owned apace station that fall to Earth. They release three monsters that are lured to Chicago by the owners of the space station where they will be destroyed. Dwayne Johnson plays an ex-Marine who tries to save Chicago from the rampaging monsters.

KONG: SKULL ISLAND---director Jordan Vogt-Roberts said he's not interested in returning to the MonsterVerse, “I think I’m done with giant monsters for a little bit. Look, I’m really proud of this world, and I’m super proud of, I think in general, and this is out there too, the response being “Why do we need a new Kong movie?” and that was my response...I’m so proud of what Legendary and Warner Bros. and those guys allowed me to do and the collaboration we had, but I definitely don’t think I got KONG vs GODZILLA in me. You never say never, I’m so proud of the Kong we made and the vibe of him and the energy of him and the vibe of the creatures on the island and everything, but yeah it would be tough for me right now.”

THE DARK KNIGHT---Christian Bale said he's finished with superhero movies, “I’m not interested in doing that. I’ve never seen – I’m trying to think if that’s correct, I think I’m actually correct, I can’t remember a single superhero film that I’ve ever watched. Apart from the ones I made, and like, the Christopher Reeve ‘Superman’ films… I have no understanding of it and I’m completely blind to it.”

BLONDE AMBITION---Universal Pictures biomovie about Madonna as she struggled to become a singing star in New York in the early 1980s.

POWERLESS---NBC removed the superhero sitcom from the network's lineup and website which led to speculation it will be cancelled.

THE BLACK COMPANY---tv series underway based on the fantasy books with David Goyer and Eliza Dushku as producers.

DREAM FALL---tv series underway based on the upcoming young adult novel about seven teenagers in an insomnia experiment which goes awry which puts them in a dream world inhabited by monsters from their minds.

THE DETOUR---TNT renewed the series for Season 3.

Disappointing. However, knowing Disney is unlikely to pass up on a chance to make money, I wonder at the veracity of her statement.

I'd think we would have heard something by now. Let's not forget that Kennedy's relationship with Lucas is far older than Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm. I'd love to end this bullshit once and for all, but I'm not holding my breath.

Here's hoping one of our favorite labels can put out the complete scores from I - VI in pristine audio and with alternate tracks in their own section after their respective score.
