My older daughter bought us a couple of tickets for the Yorkshire vs Nottinghamshire T20 cricket, so after work on Friday we made our way to Headingley and had a great few hours. There was a big crowd for such a game (over ten thousand) and Vikings and Outlaws fans sat cheek by jowl with nothing but a bit of good-natured banter and the ritual mutual purchase of choc ices.
The great thing about cricket is that the players still engage with the fans. Fielding right on the boundary means that they can sign the odd autograph between overs (although the stewards can get a bit jobsworth).
Yorkshire posted their record score for a 20-over game of 227 for 5 and Notts initially looked up for it but after a handful of overs it was clear that they were going to fall short. They were nearly 50 runs behind by the end, by which time the required run rate was 36+ in the last couple of overs - a comprehensive victory. We even had an inflatable stegosaurus being passed through the crowd, a pre-requisite for any successful cricket match...
Canelo VS Golovkin sold out 10 days ago. Tickets now will be on the second hand market for big money. i remember tickets on the 2nd market for Mayweather vs Pacquiao people actually paid 100,000 dollars to watch that fight, at ringside the price was in excess of 250,000 dollars, a staggering amount.
I will - next weekend - be attending a game of Aussie Rules football in Tasmania.
Tasmania is not my home State...it's two flights to get there.
