Sorry if this has been answered in the past, but the Varese albums released on the "German" varese label, such as DIE HARD 2, TOTAL RECALL, ROBOCOP 2..... Were these released in the US? They never made it to Australia like the other "American" varese releases. Could somebody tell me the story behind this?
Having bought copies of Total Recall and Back to the Future 3 from Footlight Records in 1992, they were all German imports. My interpretation was the Vinyl format had died earlier in the US than abroad. Footlight charged $20 at the time and was the only store in NYC to have them. In fact, by 1990 all New York City stores were dumping their LP stock into under $5 bins.
If anyone remembered Colony Records...their stock was always overpriced by 25-50%. And man did they have STOCK! Who would buy at those prices? But by 1990 it worked out in my favor as I first discovered a backlog of 70's and 80's gems at Colony as they dumped their stock for next to nothing.

I think that's the answer. LPs were out of style in the U.S. at that time. Related: if anyone has a Predator 2 LP you want to give me or trade for the Varese Club CD, I would be on board with that.

Records were available here in the Netherlands (and Germany) until , about, the end of 1992. Soundtracks were hard to find, but they were there for a long time in the cd age.
