Snuffy Walden posted on Facebook: Wanted to let all my West Wing buddies out there know we are releasing a dbl West Wing cd in late July!!! Can't Wait!!

Later in the comments some indication was given that Varese Sarabande was involved in the project. Don't know how much he was allowed to talk about it, but sounds like a deep and immersive project. Of course, over seven seasons, how much music could we get? We'll see. Perhaps there will be enough interest to warrant further releases.

Well, this sounds like some really good news! The music for this shows was consistently very good, and the five minute suite doesn't do it justice!!!

It was always interesting how they would bring in the title music for an episode.

In a different vein, I still hope one day for a release of his music for I'll Fly Away. And more music from The Wonder Years.

No, he's not. I still remember the theme, years after I saw the show.

Did he write orchestral music for the whole of West Wing? No tasteful acoustic guitar stuff?

Possibly. A shame, though, such beautiful, sensitive music.

Having watched the whole series a couple of times, I can't recall any solo acoustic guitar cues. It is conceivable he snuck in a few bars from time to time, but guitar would most likely have been heard in tandem with other orchestral instruments. Interesting however that (based on the DVD special feature about Walden's music) he did the bulk of his composing on the guitar. Don't know if you're familiar with the series, but the scoring is consistently and strikingly appropriate, often poignant, often uplifting, whatever the drama calls for... And always tasteful. Instant purchase for me.

I'm with Dana.

That said, I'm not sure you'll like it, First Breath… it's usually much more traditional orchestral scoring than most of Walden's work, and may not be to your taste. But it does showcase how talented he was that he could do something so different so well.

Most of it is purely orchestral. There are some moody synth cues. I'm looking forward to this.
