Colonnesonore just published an interview with him and surprise! surprise! He's about to sign for a movie.

Here's an excerpt from the interview:

G: I guess I live a double or a triple life, so I’m writing right now a Trumpet Concerto that’s premiering in Philadelphia on October 1st. I’m about to sign for a movie, but I can’t go into detail now. It’s being released in November. Also, with Julie there’s always a project we’re constantly doing. We'll do a theatre version of [David Henry Hwang's] M. Butterfly. I’m writing a new score for that and it will premiere this fall on Broadway, with Clive Owen in the main role. So by the end of the year these three works will be released.

Justice League comes out in November. wink

Nah. Highly doubt it. He's already said that he's not interested in doing blockbusters anymore.

I sincerely doubt it too. But wouldn't that blow all of our minds?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Personally, I find all these recent superhero movies to be rather disappointing. I'd rather see him score a Bond film or Disney's upcoming 'Coco'. That'd be interesting!

But like I say, any Goldenthal is better than no Goldenthal at all.

I was just looking up November releases and 'Coco' very well could be the film he's talking about.

Now that'd have been awesome! He has never done a cartoon before.

Not an outright cartoon, no. He did do the animated Final Fantasy, but story-wise and action-wise that was essentially a live-action film done in an animated style and Goldenthal's score matched that.

My guess is it's no big title. If it's not a Julie Taymour film, it's something similarly low-profile. An art movie of some kind that does not appear in any 'upcoming' lists yet.

Yes, that's more his style. By the way, the mystery film is coming out next november, not this.

PS Does anyone here speak Dutch? If yes, could you translate this excerpt below for me guys? I've tried Google translate, but it's a total mess.

But sorry for Goldenthal, there were also a few non-profitable pop songs available, where people went head. And thus the director of Goldenthal's crossed the musical structure. It was your cleanest circus, so I eventually left the project, explained Goldenthal. Return.

Dutch Translated.

Thanks. BTW, 'waar Manns' in the first sentence is actually Mann's (as in Michael Mann). I just realized that.

Also, 'cleanest circus'? Perhaps you meant to say pure circus?

But anyway, did he leave the project for real? This doesn't seem right. He did have some difficulties with Mann on Heat (who can blame him?), but this is the first time I hear about it.

Can anyone confirm that?

I think leagolfer just used Google Translate. Doesn't make much sense. A translation from an actual Dutch person would help!

I printed it off Google chrome translater that's what it come back with.. probably about 80-85% right. I hate chrome a useless device.

I thought they patched things up on PUBLIC ENEMIES?

They have, but that's not my point. You see, this is the first time I'm hearing this. I heard him complaining about the director (he's very indecisive ans constantly changes his mind) on both projects. Was he so fed up with him that he ultimately decided to leave the project? If so, was it in the mid or closer to end?

Did they patched things up on Public Enemies, really?
The movie he basically recorded three different scores for and yet the finished film included only handful of his cues?

But when he was in Prague he actually joked about maybe working for Mann again in the future but not sooner than in another 10 years...

I think they have, well sort of. He finds him to be a fine director (or else he wouldn't work with him -- it's not like he's desperate for a job), but I guess it's his methodology that drives him crazy. I'm sure he's not the only one who feels that way.

Yeah... HGW wasn't particularly happy with his experience either smile
ditto probably Trevor Jones.
