And, not for anything, I was really invested in the Peter Parker of the last two films. Losing Gwen was shattering and I really wanted to see where they were going with him. Sadly, the rest of ASM2 kinda sucked...
I agree with you about being invested with the Peter of the two ASM films. I thought the death of Gwen was devastating. Unlike you (and most people) I didn't mind the rest of ASM2 - and would have definitely liked to see where they took the character.
But isn't that what this movie is about? Based on the trailers the impression I get is that it starts with the tech in the suit, then Stark takes away the bells and whistles and spidey needs to figure it out on his own.
Yeah - you're right. I was probably having a whine for no real reason...and I hope I enjoy the film...
I guess I'm still carrying a little baggage over the dumping of Andrew Garfield as Spidey. I know I am in the minority but I loved those ASM films.

I didn't mind the ongoing subplot about Peter's father. That differentiated it nicely from the Raimi films. Where I thought the film went wrong was in the way the villains were depicted. Jaime Foxx did what he could, but it was a poorly written role. Actually setting up the Osborn's in the first movie would have made this one feel more organic and less like they were playing catch up when Harry was introduced. And The Rhino was just awful. Sony concentrated too hard on created a new expanded universe with the Sinister Six without earning it. Having said that, the final ten minutes was sublime, the effects and the costume were perfect and I even liked Zimmer's score (and I LOVED Horner's so that's big). Even with its faults, I like the movie more than most people and was really cranky when Sony threw in the towel.
