He really missed a bet though by not having guitar solos by...John Williams. That would be too many Williamses (Williamsii?)

Seems an appropriate time to regurgitate my old story about when my dear wife bought me the CD "Images - John Williams", knowing that I loved the music from the Altman film, and the work of the great composer in general. Unfortunately it was the baldy long-haired guitarist "John Williams" and the title "Images" had absolutely nothing to do with the Altman film.

He, he....at least her heart was in the right place! Curiously, I can find no album by the guitarist John Williams named IMAGES....?? You had me worried there. Nothing comes up on a quick Googliation. However, I do have the disc now in my hand, and in the absence of brains regarding how to take a photo of it and post it, I'll tell you about it instead. Seems that "Images" is an umbrella title for a series of compilations featuring a number of musicians. "Images - Acker Bilk"; "Images - Bert Kaempfert" etc. The Williams one was released in 1989 on "Knight Records", although every track has, curiously, a 1976 date after it. There's "Cavatina, featuring Cleo Laine", "Theme from Z", "House of the Rising Sun" and some Bach pieces. I think it's just a cheapo thing. Not bad, but not as interesting as the film score IMAGES, by John Towner Williams, whose charming soundtrack for STEPMOM is really lovely and somewhat underrated.

Ah yes Thor. That's part of the series (same letter-type etc). Done on the cheap by the looks of things.

Does Patrick Doyle finished his score before Williams took the work ? Yes. Musicians included (all I have been able to find): Phil Yao on French horn. And Robin Olson on violin.
