SALT TO THE SEA---Universal Pictures movie underway based on the World War II historical novel in which the German transport ship MV Wilhelm Gustloff was sunk by a Soviet submarine while evacuating civilians, Nazi officials and German military personnel.
About 9,400 people were killed which is the largest loss of life in a single ship sinking in history and six times more than those who died in the sinking of the ocean liner Titanic. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (TRANSFORMERS) is the producer.

BLUE BOOK---History/Robert Zemeckis (FORREST GUMP) tv series underway based on the US Air Force's Project Blue Book which investigated UFOs in the 1950s and 1960s. Each episode will follow Dr. J. Allen Hynek's investigation of a true incident from Project Blue Book.

SILVER AND BLACK---Sony Pictures Spider-Man spinoff movie underway based on Marvel Comics' Silver Sable and Black Cat. Gina Prince-Bythewood (BEYOND THE LIGHT) is the director.

GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS---director Michael Daugherty announced the second STRANGER THINGS cast member, Randy Havens, has joined the sequel cast. He hinted that Havens will play a member of Monarch Industries. Millie Bobby Brown is the other STRANGER THINGS cast member.

GAME OF THRONES---Season 7 photo shows the surviving Stark children. Also, HBO confirmed Season 8 will have six episodes.

MORTAL ENGINES---Peter Jackson released concept art for the movie based on the fantasy novels.

WONDER WOMAN---Alamo Drafthouse theaters announced a females-only screening of the movie, “Apologies, gentlemen, but we’re embracing our girl power and saying ‘No Guys Allowed’ for one special night at the Alamo Ritz. And when we say ‘People Who Identify As Women Only,’ we mean it. Everyone working at this screening — venue staff, projectionist, and culinary team — will be female …
A male movie fan replied, “Imagine the s—storm if there was any male only showing of anything … or a private showing for a specific race or sexual orientation … Nah, it’s SJW [Social Justice Warrior] approved.”

TOP GUN 2---the Pentagon said it has been contacted by producers of the sequel requesting military cooperation. Peter Strub, the Pentagon's director of entertainment media, said, "We've been contacted, but the picture is in the early stages of preproduction. We've not even received a script." The Navy's current jet fighter, the F/A-18E Super Hornet, replaced the F-14 Tomcat which was made famous in the original movie. The Navy's new stealth F-35C Lightning II won't be operational until 2018 or 2019.

THE JETSONS---Conrad Vernon (SAUSAGE PARTY, SHREK 2) will direct the Warner Bros. animated movie based on the series that ran on ABC from 1962-1963.

HBO---the network renewed VEEP and SILICON VALLEY. HBO announced that TJ Miller has left SILICON VALLEY.

BAYWATCH 2---producer Beau Flynn said a sequel is underway. Dwayne Johnson posted about the negative reviews from critics, “Fans LOVE the movie. Critics HATE it. What a glaring disconnect. People just want to laugh & have fun. #Baywatch.”

CHICAGO P.D.---Sophia Bush has left the series.

HANNIBAL---Bryan Fuller said the chances that series being resurrected are slim or none,
“It was very likely that there wouldn’t be a fourth season (after season three), because I felt like we were running out of rope and NBC had kept us on the air for three years with numbers that nobody would have kept us on the air for. So I’m very grateful for those three years, but I felt like it would be shocking if we got a fourth season and we didn’t… yet.
I have conversations with (executive producer) Martha De Laurentiis. I have conversations with Mads and Hugh. We’re all excited about the prospect of returning to the story. There’s some hurdles to get through. The rights revert back to Martha in September I believe and then it’s a matter of do we do it with Gaumont (production company of Hannibal)? Which would be the only way to do it if we wanted to use those characters.”

So girl's night is "discrimination" now? There are other screenings, and there are other theaters. Whiners can deal with it. They aren't saying men aren't allowed to see the movie, they're saying they're having one screening for women.

There's some mental gymnastics there. Looking forward to "black nights out" for the premier of Black Panther. wink

Yeah, soon they're gonna want their own bathroom.
When a power "minority" bans together it's a reaction to discrimination (in this case, against white male privilege). If we lived in a perfect non-discriminatory world, there would be NO NEED for a superhero named WONDER WOMAN. Keep your panty raids to yourself, honky cracker.

There are some men-only events -- I've seen men-only yoga, etc -- but typically there's not much demand for them, presumably because men already tend to dominate public spaces. There's a difference between discriminating against people and creating a space where marginalized groups of people can, for a time, enjoy an experience together without the presence of those who marginalize them. The energy might be different in a theater full of women enjoying a common experience than in a theater with a mixed audience. So yes, yes, a screening of Black Panther for black people would also be fine.

Tell you what. Next time there's a movie from a male director with a man as the top-billed cast member, we can hold a male-only screening. Oh, wait, that's like 99% of all movies released.

There's no such thing as a male only screening. Here's an idea- lets exclude no one, and include everyone. Nah, that would be to reasonable for the human race.

Typical reaction when white guy suddenly thinks he's getting "discriminated" against. Good luck getting the rest of the human race to become color and gender blind just so you can see a comic book movie on opening night.
