Goodbye, Mr Chips would have been just the ticket for the academic scene. What's with the "Scooby Doo" thingy for ET? smile Nicely put together melding of themes for the finale.

Great and fun!

Another reason why John Williams is such a Master - his themes are hummable, therefore memorable and recognizable.

Now I dare you try to do the same with anything composed by someone at Remote Control.

Williams has no relation to Harvard (other than having scored THE PAPER CHASE, which is set there), and the award is academically meaningless, but it looks like he a had a good time!

Well probably because of his strong affinity with the Boston Pops both his stint as leading conductor honorary role as Laureate composer may have prompted the honorary degree. Also Williams is a renowned charity contributor so it may have been for various reasons such as grants for the music library/school etc.
