Bolton are down to 14 first team players, including 2 goalies, 3 half-backs none of whom were first choice, a good striker whom the manager in his wisdom always kept benched, and one centre midfielder. We basically need an entire team and we still have no money. Last minute, last day heroics have just delayed the inevitable. It'll be a miracle if we don't go down. With Blackburn, Wigan, Stoke, West Brom, Swansea making things tougher. Yeesh.

Hah true. But we've always said goalies back home too. Also soccer. For some reason people think english never said soccer, but we always said that growing up too.

Football. Round my way.

"3 and in" was what we played over the park when it was 2 or 3 or 4 of us against a keeper. And u went in goal wen you got a hattrick.
And when u played a match, jumpers for goalposts, it was "goalie rush" which meant keeper could come outfield.

Never soccer. Never even heard of soccer till the 70s.
It was what americans called football.

Soccer comes from the term "association football". Beckham started saying it when he went to chase the Yankee Dollar. People say soccer in Ireland to differentiate the foreign game from Gaelic Football.

I've sent an email to Real Madrid applying for their manager job, as no one else seems to want it. I'll let you all know what they say.

And rightly so. Lead Blackburn to the title in 1995.

Bolton apparently signed Jason Lowe, former Blackburn captain, from Burmingham. I'm assuming he's over 32, doesn't score, is a sick-note and generally shite. And was free.

This begs the question: Why is (all) toxicity so toxic?

Woke up this morning to find that the house is in disarray, things on the floor, it was a right mess. So no, we weren’t affected at all by it smile

The term soccer doesn't derive from America, its an English university term & dates back to early students before pro's come along.

In the 60s-70s you had George Bests Soccer annuals & Bobby Charlton's soccer academy.

Americans changed the meaning of football when they came up with their variant of rugby with safety gear added, its more accurate to call that sport/game egg-ball.
