TUESDAY, JULY 25

JAMES BOND---THE NEW YORK TIMES reported that Daniel Craig is returning for the 25th James Bond movie, "Craig's return is a done deal, according to two people briefed on the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to avoid conflicts with Eon and MGM."
A British tabloid said supermodel Cara Delevingne (VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS) is a candidate to be the sequel's Bond Girl, "Cara's value really has exploded in a short time in Hollywood. They feel she could play a fierce spy working alongside the main protagonist. The role would not be arm candy, but a kick-a**, strong character."

GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS---sequel photo hints at Mothra. The stone bas-relief is from the Temple of the Moth in the Yucca Province and shows a giant moth, two caterpillar-like creatures and a cocoon.

DUNKIRK---Christopher Nolan said Michael Caine was in the World War II epic, as he is in all of Nolan's movies. Caine, who played a Spitfire pilot in the 1969 epic BATTLE OF BRITAIN, provides the voice heard on Tom Hardy's headset as Hardy heads to do battle with Luftwaffe fighters, “It’s shocking to me that a lot of people haven’t [noticed Caine] when he has really one of the most distinctive voices in cinema. I wanted very much to squeeze him in here. It’s a bit of a nod to his character in BATTLE OF BRITAIN. And also, it’s Michael. He has to be in all my films, after all.”

JUSTICE LEAGUE---Warner Bros. is spending about $25 million for the Joss Whedon reshoots. Part of the big budget is due to rescheduling the reshoots to fit the schedules of some of the actors. Henry Cavill's moustache for MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6 will be digitally removed.

JOHN WICK---director David Leitch commented a possible Keanu Reeves/JOHN WICK crossover with Charlize Theron's ATOMIC BLONDE, “(Laugh) It would be great! I get this question once in a while, and I think it’s just more their time period lines. I would absolutely do it. Maybe there’s a time we see versions, or there’s uh, you know, the other real fantasy is that maybe there’s a project with both, that a new idea. You know, that Charlize and Keanu could…, a story that we could have with the same action space and we can see them either partner up or go toe to toe.”
One problem is that the characters are set in different time periods.

WINDS OF WINTER---George RR Martin commented on when the book will be published, "I’ve seen some truly weird reports about [WINDS OF WINTER] on the internet of late, by ‘journalists’ who make their stories up out of whole cloth. I don’t know which story is more absurd, the one that says the book is finished and I’ve been sitting on it for some nefarious reason, or the one that says I have no pages. Both ‘reports’ are equally false and equally moronic. I am still working on it, I am still months away (how many? good question), I still have good days and bad days, and that’s all I care to say.”
Martin is also working on FIRE AND BLOOD, a two-volume history of Westeros under the Targaryen dynasty.
Martin added, “Whether WINDS or the first volume of FIRE AND BLOOD will be the first to hit the bookstores is hard to say at this juncture, but I do think you will have a Westeros book from me in 2018… and who knows, maybe two. A boy can dream,”

GAMBIT---Channing Tatum said the movie might be R-rated or PG-13, "We got really lucky. We had a first draft it was good, but we were coming to at a time at that creative phase of [the X-MEN], where these movies went through a bit of a paradigm shift, where the X-Men movies and the superhero movies with LOGAN and DEADPOOL really broke down a lot of doors for us."
He added, "We were trying to do some things that we actually weren't allowed to do, and they just smashed down the doors, and now we're giving it a bit of a rethink."

THE OUTPOST---movie underway based on the book about the siege of an Army outpost of 50 soldiers by over 400 Taliban in Afghanistan. Rod Lurie (THE LAST CASTLE) is the director.

DISENCHANTMENT---Netflix/Matt Groening animated fantasy series set in the medieval kingdom of Dreamland which the follows the adventures of Princess Bean, her elf friend Elfo and personal demon Luci.

BARBIE---Anne Hathaway is in talks to replace Amy Schumer in the Sony Pictures movie based on the Mattel doll.

THE MARRIAGE PACT---20th Century Fox movie underway based on the novel about newlyweds who join the mysterious group The Pact which guarantees a marriage will be happy and intact---at all costs.

THE PEANUT BUTTER FALCON---Mark Twain-inspired movie underway about a young man with Down Syndrome who escapes from a facility and embarks on a journey to find his hero, The Salt Water Redneck. John Hawkes, Thomas Haden Church, Bruce Dern, Dakota Johnson, Jon Bernthal and Shia LaBeouf star.

TELL NO ONE---movie underway about two bodies discovered near a doctor's estate whose wife was murdered years before. Frank Marshall (JURASSIC WORLD, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK)) is the producer.

AVATAR---CCH Pounder is returning as Moat for the sequels.

BEST DAY OF MY LIFE---Sarah Jessica Parker, Jacqueline Bisset, Rene Zellweger and Isabella Rossellini star in this movie about a New York jazz vocalist who is about to begin a world tour when she receives a deadly diagnosis.

OUCH!$!$!$!$ Wait, reshoots, I thought the director left for "family" reasons, and Whedon was just filling in?

It was announced Whedon was doing reshoots when he stepped in for Snyder back in May.

The reshoots are too much and so much money to simply be Whedon taking over for somebody who had to step out for family reasons. This sounds like a nice way of having Zack keep face while they gong him out.

The "family" reason is probably family members putting hands on his shoulder and telling him to stop making movies, like that meme of a cat putting a hand on a person typing at a keyboard and the words "It's time to stop posting" on it.

Khan has a hard time grasping humor, so I shall bold it for him. Note it even had a cat meme mentioned in it.

Look at Justin Boggan being an insensitive boob and making light of Snyder's daughter's suicide.

Humor at bad directors hard to grasp, huh?

It wasn't funny, so there was no humor to grasp.

Go ahead and keep digging that hole you've found yourself in, though.

Very good point.

Also, if Caine's voice doesn't appear in the first 23 minutes, I'd probably be asleep by the time it was first heard, if Nolan's other movies are anything to go by.

I actually recognized Caine's voice in the movie. Was kind of like recognizing Ed Harris's voice in GRAVITY.

Oh goody. Purvis & Wade definitely back, Daniel Craig likely to return too. The name is Bored. Very Bored.

If Daniel Craig really is back for Bond #25 then I'll just wait for #26.

The prestige . . . will Bond get to meet Palmer? Could that sort of a twist go down without spoiling the vodka, eh?

"The role would not be arm candy, but a kick-a**, strong character."

This is what EVERY Bond movie made in the last 20 years has claimed about the latest Bond Girl. You know, there is nothing wrong with just being sexy and desirable on-screen. This "Girl Power!!!" shit is getting out of hand.

That's ridiculous. He was heard loud and clear in the film and was easily recognizable.

For those stuck in the sexist past, there's always Tanya Roberts in A View to a Kill, not to mention three billion other movies and TV shows.

Delightfully beautiful, sexy, and feminine is a wonderful combination, just so the "kick ass" stuff isn't obligatory or perfunctory--that's as insulting as the helpless Fay Wray type so prevalent in the old days.

Well, yeah but it kinda defeats the purpose of Bond as a character. They've turned it into a male/female buddy thing.

If that's all Bond is, then his time has come and gone as a character. Like I said before, Bond and Vesper's CASINO ROYALE shower scene shatters the character's misogyny and brings a much deeper, much better character than what existed previously. Bond before Craig was a ridiculous cartoon character.

As long as they don't emasculate and denigrate Bond as they often did during the Brosnan era, Bond will remain a kick-ass presence on his own. The addition of a capable female Bond Girl only adds to the quality.

I agree that there isn't anything wrong with being sexy and desirable on screen for BOTH men and women.'

But seeing women as competent, independent and POWERFUL is also great and is still NOT out of hand.
