Anyone can help me?? I need some tips for scores from modern romantic comedies! Thanks for your help!!! I guess the question is to hard for this collection of film score fans?!?!? Nobody? It's harder than it looks! I'm sure somebody has some ideas, but the truth is that most 'romantic comedies' are dialogue-driven primarily, and even in action scenes the music doesn't carry the weight. Also, the best music in such films is used ironically, i.e. played straight, so it doesn't categorise itself as comedic. But they'll be out there somewhere!

What do you mean by 'modern'? Are we talking all the way back to the 90s and before, or are you talking about 2000 onwards? And must they take place in contemporary times or can they take place in older times? Some good romantic scores in recent years that I really like include LA COEUR EN BRAILLE (Jakko), QUE D'AMOUR (Jakko), THEIR FINEST (Portman), THE HANDMAIDEN (Jo), LOVE & FRIENDSHIP (Suozzo), TESTAMENT OF YOUTH (Richter), LOST FOR WORDS (Matthias), FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD (Armstrong), THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ELEANOR RIGBY (Lux), IN MY DREAMS (Ross).... [Edit: Damn...I missed the comedy bit. Not sure how many of those I mentioned are comedies]

Sideways - Rolfe Kent The Holiday - Hans Zimmer Heaven Can Wait - Dave Grusin (not modern, but a fave) Arthur - Burt Bacharach (also not modern, but a fave) Unnecessary goading aside, it's difficult to give answers considering how formulaic (and therefore undemanding) the genre is and how many here usually collect (or can only afford) blockbuster fare.

Ah! This is the kind of music I am looking for! https://youtu.be/vytE9FC82l8 Any suggestions and tips? Oh dear God! This was used as the backing track on a series of TV ads for BT Broadband I did the voiceovers on some years ago! I'd no idea it was film related. P.S. it isn't film stuff .... 'Life of Riley' by Kevin MacLeod.

I will try to find them, since I don't know them, but I guess you read the other posts as well? Just before your reply I posted a musictrack which is the mood I am looking for. Not easy at all! But that's why help is needed. Hahaha Best, S
