I love the scene in "The Studio" where Lionel Newman and Alexander Courage are trying to figure out which song to use for the main title and after humming "Talk to The Animals" and using a stopwatch it comes out too long and Newman then says, "Sxxx it's such a lousy song anyway!"

One viewing of this movie was enough for me.

As someone else has said, this movie goes in the same box as “Camelot”.

You set out to enjoy it but, it defeats you, every time!

The book and direction are hopelessly leaden, which is a great shame because the score is wonderful.

I did see it in its original 70mm Road Show. It looked suitably opulent, but, I wasn’t tempted back for further viewings, as I was for so many other Epics (Musical.or otherwise) of that period.

The score was much thought of at the time, and several artists did cover versions of it. Most notably,Sammy Davis Jr and Bobby Darin...... and, of course,
“Talk to the Animals” won the Best Song Oscar.

Lennie Hayton did a great job with it and Bricusse’s score is very witty and undoubtedly tuneful.

Newley????..... well, you either love him,or, you loathe him. He’s one of those artists that has no middle ground. Personally, I love him and I think “After Today” is just glorious.
However...... sorry,Tony, but, there is no excuse for that awful “oirish" accent,or the mugging.

Nice try, guys but..... “Can We Go Again,Please?
Oh!.....and Richard, thank-you,but ..... we’ll let you know.”.
