If I had to choose the two most influential, complex, and transcendent film composers of the 20th century it would be Dimitri Tiomkin and John Williams. That being said, I have always accepted "Circus World" as a lesser work by Tiomkin. I recently revisited the LP album of this score. Having not seen the film, I would assume that there is a sizable amount of dramatic underscore that is missing from the presentation. However, my recent reanalysis of the album reveals some delightful, albeit, light music tracks. If one adheres to the compositions that consist completely of Tiomkin's original melodies (and avoids the marches) the result is a very nice, easy listening experience. Any fans of this score? Is anyone familiar with the film? If so, does the LP album accurately reflect the original film soundtrack?
