Easily the best remake of a TV show ever made. It works in every way from story to performances, through direction and finally music. I saw this a few times in the theater. It's a great action film as well as a fine mystery. Ford does a lot with a little and Jones is at his best. Andrew Davis seemed to be on the cusp of greatness. But it seems this film was just that lightning in a bottle that he could never capture again. US MARSHALS is actually not a bad film, and the only follow up to this would have to focus on Gerard, but it was too busy remaking the original instead of going in another direction. Great Jerry Goldsmith score, though. However, The Fugitive stands on its own as a wonderful film and one of my all time favorites.

I really like the LiS film though and together with the fugitive, I consider them very sincere new releases based on popular 60s franchise, Agreed, I like the LiS film a hell of a lot, warts and all. It was a very respectful and sincere attempt to capture nearly every version of that series; the deadly serious opening episodes, the more sentimental and monster oriented tales, the comedy and the creepy low-wattage scares that they could get away with back in the day. Honestly, the only real complaint I have about it (other than a few duds when it came to casting and some shitty even at the time CGI creature work) was that they tried too hard. It was too crammed with stuff, and they lost the focus. But after a slow middle section, the last half hour comes to life and the escape through the planet sequence is thrilling, in no small part to Bruce Broughton's amazing score.
