Show creator Matt Groening has been working in a new animated series called "Disenchantment", for about two years now. It's expected to air sometime this year on Netflix. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disenchantment_(TV_series) Hopefully he's securing Alf Clausen, otherwise I'll be ... disenchanted.

I am now disenchanted. Mark Mothersbaugh announced as the composer for that above-mentioned series.

Ohhh, boy. Didn't sound right from the beginning...

I've watched The Simpsons from the beginning. I lost interest somewhere around 2000. I've been buying the dvd box sets every now and then. I am now at season 16. I am in no rush to move forward, but am interested to hear the different direction the music took after Alf Clausen was fired. This whole situation was from the get-go. If he was ill, they should've dealt with it differently. Obviously, I don't have all or any of the facts, so who am I to say.

In the filing, Clausen also attacks Hans Zimmer, whose company replaced him on the show, for creating Simpsons music "inferior in quality, depth, range and sound, yet stylistically similar in substance." I like Clausen and am upset about his firing, but have to say: I don't understand what this means. Style and substance seem like very different things (hence the common phrase, "style over substance"?) and I don't see how something can be "similar in substance" if it's "inferior in quality, depth, range and sound"... https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/fox-says-discovery-simpsons-composer-culminated-firing-1292397 here is the great quote from the story "(James Brooks) Around that time, I learned that Clausen had been delegating some of the work of composing music for The Simpsons to others, including his son Scott Clausen," adds Sakai. "I believed his unauthorized delegation was unacceptable. I called showrunner [Al] Jean and told him that Clausen had been delegating his composing work; he conveyed to me that he was surprised and disturbed as well." This allegedly led to more meetings between Brooks, Sakai, Jean and Simpsons showrunner Matt Selman, where they discussed how Clausen was having others do his work. "We decided that we could improve the music on the show by replacing him," Sakai states." This practice is so common on TV in order to meet deadlines as to be a laughable reason to fire ANYONE. How many composers working today got their break "Helping Out" on a TV series. This is also really funny coming from James Brooks who wanted to replace him with Hans Zimmer "team"....... Ford A. Let’s not forget that Richard Gibbs scored the first two seasons of the show. There seems to be a misunderstanding that Clausen was there from day one.
